2018 UConn Huskies Football Team
The 2018 UConn Huskies football team represented the University of Connecticut during the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season as a member of the East Division of the American Athletic Conference. They played their home games at Rentschler Field. They were led by head coach Randy Edsall in his second year of his second stint and 14th year overall. They finished the season 1–11, 0–8 in AAC play to finish in last in the East Division. They set the single-season FBS record for most yards and most points allowed in a single season. This included giving up 50.42 points per game (breaking Louisiana-Lafayette’s record of 50.27 in 1997) and allowed 617.4 yards per game (breaking Kansas' record of 560.83 in 2015). Randy Edsall
Randy Douglas Edsall (born August 27, 1958) is a retired American football coach, formerly the head football coach at the University of Connecticut from 1999 to 2010 and again from 2017 until his abrupt retirement in 2021. He also served as the head coach at the University of Maryland from 2011 to 2015 and as director of football research-special projects for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL) in 2016. During his first stint at UConn, he oversaw the program's promotion from the NCAA Division I-AA level to Division I-A. He is the program's all-time leader in wins and games coached. On September 5, 2021, Edsall announced he would retire after the conclusion of the 2021 season after an 0–2 start. The JMA Wireless Dome, originally the Carrier Dome (1980–2022) and colloquially called "The Dome," or more recently "The JMA Dome," is a domed sports stadium in Syracuse, New York.
