2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup
The 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup, officially II U-23 Baseball World Cup, is the second edition of the U-23 Baseball World Cup tournament, third since the tournament's inception in 2014 as the 21U Baseball World Cup. The tournament was held at Edgar Rentería Baseball Stadium in Barranquilla and 18 de Junio Baseball Stadium in Montería, Colombia. Originally the host to the tournament was awarded to Nicaragua and would be held in Managua, but due to 2018–2020 Nicaraguan protests, WBSC subsequently decided to move the tournament to Colombia. Mexico defeated Japan with a score of 2:1 in the championship game to win the gold medal. Venezuela won the bronze medal by defeating Korea in the third-place game with a score of 4:5. 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup
The 2016 U-23 World Baseball Cup was the second edition of the U-23 Baseball World Cup since its inception in 2014 as the U-21 Baseball World Cup. The competition took place in Mexico between Oct. 28 and Nov. 6, 2016. A total of 50 games were played in three host cities: Monterrey, Saltillo, and Cadereyta. In the gold medal game, Japan defeated Australia with the score of 10:3. Korea defeated Panama with the score of 5:3 to win the bronze medal. Venues Monterrey, Saltillo, and Cadereyta are the three cities where games were played. In Monterrey, games were played at the 27,000-seat Estadio de Beisbol Monterrey, home of Sultannes Monterrey of the Mexican Baseball League. In Saltillo, games were played at Estadio Francisco I. The 2020 U-23 Baseball World Cup, officially III U-23 Baseball World Cup, is the third edition of the U-23 Baseball World Cup tournament, fourth since the tournament's inception in 2014 as the 21U Baseball World Cup. Originally scheduled to take place in 2020, the event was postponed to 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament is held from September 23 to October 2, in Ciudad Obregón and Hermosillo, Mexico, with 12 teams participating. Consequently, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has expanded the age category to include players up to the age of 24 who would have missed the competition in 2020, and players born from 1997 to 2003 will be eligible to participate.
