The 2018 Superliga Colombiana (known as the 2018 Superliga Águila for sponsorship purposes) was the seventh edition of the Superliga Colombiana. It was contested by the champions of the 2017 Categoría Primera A season from 31 January to 7 February 2018. Millonarios defeated Atlético Nacional 2–1 on aggregate to win their first Superliga title. Superliga Colombiana
The Superliga Colombiana (''Colombian Superleague''), officially known as Superliga BetPlay DIMAYOR due to sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is an official competition contested between the winners of the Apertura and Finalización tournaments of the Colombian Categoría Primera A. The tournament is organized by the División Mayor del Fútbol Colombiano, DIMAYOR. The competition was created in 2012 and is played by the end of January of every year, at the start of each season. Its current champion is Deportes Tolima, who won their first title in 2022, while the most successful club is Santa Fe, with four titles. Roberto Andrés Ovelar Maldonado (born 1 December 1985) is a Paraguayan footballer who currently plays as a striker for paraguayan club General Caballero Sport Club. He began his football career at amateur club Karende, and was later scouted by Rogelio Rojas to play for Cerro Porteño, one of the most successful Paraguayan teams. His coach at the moment, Gustavo Costas, called him up for the 2006 season, when the team earned the Primera División. After the 2007 season, Ovelar was loaned to Peruvian side Universidad San Martín de Porres. In June 2008, he returned to Cerro Porteño after a successful season in Peru, winning the Torneo Descentralizado. In January 2009, Ovelar joined Mexican side Cruz Azul. In June, he returned to Peru and joined Alianza Lima on loan, finalizing his transfer later that season. Andrés Jair Rentería Morelo (born 6 March 1993), commonly known as Andrés Rentería, is a Colombian footballer who plays as a forward for Independiente Santa Fe. He is a naturalized citizen of Mexico. Club career Atlético Nacional and Alianza Petrolera Rentería started his career in Atlético Nacional's youth teams, and debuted in the first team on 4 March 2012, in the 1–0 defeat against Cúcuta Deportivo, coming on as an 81st-minute substitute for Diego Álvarez. Millonarios Fútbol Club is a professional Colombian football team based in Bogotá, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera A. They play their home games at the El Campín stadium. Millonarios was initially created in 1937 by students from the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé. 2017 Categoría Primera A Season
The 2017 Categoría Primera A season (officially known as the 2017 Liga Águila season for sponsorship reasons) was the 70th season of Colombia's top-flight football league. Santa Fe were the defending champions having won the title in the 2016 season's Finalización tournament. The season started on 3 February and concluded on 17 December. In the Torneo Apertura, Atlético Nacional won its sixteenth title after beating Deportivo Cali in the finals, while in the Torneo Finalización Millonarios defeated crosstown rivals Santa Fe in the finals to win its fifteenth title.
