2018 Supercopa Argentina
The 2018 Supercopa Argentina Final was the 7th edition of the Supercopa Argentina, an annual football match contested by the winners of the Argentine Primera División and Copa Argentina competitions. Initially the match was scheduled for 4 April 2019 at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza but it was rescheduled for 2 May 2019. Boca Juniors and Rosario Central qualified after winning the 2017–18 Argentine Primera División tournament and the 2017–18 Copa Argentina, respectively. Boca Juniors won the match via a penalty shoot-out after the game had finished 0–0. It was their first Supercopa Argentina title. The Supercopa Argentina (English: Argentine Super Cup) is an official National association football cup of Argentina organized by the Argentine Football Association (AFA). The annual football match was played for the first time in 2012, being contested by the reigning champions of Primera División and Copa Argentina respectively. History The idea of an Argentine "Supercup" came up in 2012 when the Argentine Football Association (AFA), in an attempt to bring innovation to the current system, established a competition that would be contested by champions of Primera División and Copa Argentina, taking inspiration from European cups. The first Supercopa was held that same year when Boca Juniors (champion of Copa Argentina relaunched in 2011) faced Arsenal de Sarandí (champion of 2012 Torneo Clausura) at Estadio Bicentenario in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca. Darío Ismael Benedetto (born 17 May 1990) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a striker for Argentine Primera División club Boca Juniors. Club career Early career Darío Benedetto began his career playing for Arsenal de Sarandí in 2008. Emmanuel David Mas Sgros (born 15 January 1989 in San Juan) is an Argentine footballer who plays as a left-back for Independiente Rivadavia of the Argentine Primera División. He has been capped internationally eight times for Argentina.
