2018 Shanghai Darts Masters
The 2018 21.co.uk Shanghai Darts Masters was the third staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation and the second entry in the 2018 World Series of Darts. The tournament featured 16 players (eight PDC players facing eight regional qualifiers) and was held at the Pullman Hotel in Shanghai, China from 13–14 July 2018. Michael van Gerwen was the defending champion after defeating Dave Chisnall 8–0 in the final of the 2017 event, but he lost 8–4 in the semi-finals to Michael Smith. Smith went on to win his first World Series title by beating Rob Cross 8–2 in the final. Prize money The total prize fund was £60,000. Daryl Gurney
Daryl Gurney (born 22 March 1986) is a Northern Irish professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Gurney is a winner of two majors, having won the World Grand Prix in 2017 in his native Ireland, and the Players Championship Finals in 2018. Career Gurney reached the quarter finals of the 2008 Scottish Open, beating Andy Boulton and Alan Soutar before losing to Shaun Greatbatch. He then reached the final of the 2008 WDF Europe Cup, beating Stig Jorgensen in the quarter finals and then beat Fabian Roosenbrand 4–0 in the semi-finals before losing to defending champion Mark Webster 4–0 in the final. The World Series of Darts is a series of darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. Beginning in 2013, the World Series has comprised between two and seven tournaments across the world, where a mixture of the top-ranked PDC players take on local qualifiers in a knockout format. Yuanjun Liu (born 21 April 1982) is a Chinese professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation events. Career In 2016, he and Wenge Xie represented China in the 2016 PDC World Cup of Darts, and reached the second round, where they were comprehensively beaten by Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis of England. Zong Xiao Chen (; born 8 March 1998) is a Chinese professional darts player from Dandong who currently plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is a first winner of the China Premier League. He represented China for two time at the PDC World Darts Championship. is a Japanese professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career BDO Asada won the Japan Open in 2012 by beating Osamu Niki in the final. He won the tournament for the second time in 2014, beating Katsuya Aiba in the final. Lourence Gregorio Ilagan (born 11 February 1978) is a Filipino professional soft-tip and steel-tip darts player who plays currently in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and international soft-tip events. His biggest achievement to date was advanced to the semi-finals of the World Masters before he lost to Robbie Green.
