2018 Scottish Rally Championship
The Scottish Rally Championship is a rallying series run throughout Scotland over the course of a year, that comprises seven gravel surface events. The 2018 series began in the snow-covered forest tracks around Inverness on 10 February, with the season finale taking place around Castle Douglas on 8 September. Aberdeen based haulage company ''ARR Craib'' were the championship sponsors for the sixth year in a row. Driver '' Euan Thorburn'' and regular co-driver ''Paul Beaton'' who won the 2017 championship did not contest the 2018 championship. Following the ''Galloway Hills Rally'' in September, driver Andrew Gallacher and co-driver Jane Nicol were declared 2018 champions in their Ford Focus WRC. 2018 calendar For season 2018 there was to be seven events held predominantly on gravel surfaces. The championship has always been a breeding ground for many World Rally Championship drivers, including Colin & Alister McRae, Robbie Head and Barry Clark. Banchory (, , ) is a burgh or town in Aberdeenshire, historically in Kincardineshire, Scotland. It is about west of Aberdeen, near where the Feugh River meets the River Dee. Prehistory and archaeology In 2009, a farmer discovered a short cist burial to the east of the town. Archaeologists were called into excavate it and they found that it was a burial from the Beaker culture. Radiocarbon dating put the burial at sometime between 2330 and 2040 BC. Stable isotope analysis of the human remains indicated that he or she grew up on basalt geology, like that of the region, or on chalk, meaning they were either local or could have come from another place, like Yorkshire. Residue analysis of the Beaker pot found in the burial established that it had held either butter or milk. The Hyundai i20 R5 is a rally car built by Hyundai Motorsport and based upon the Hyundai i20 road car. It is built to R5 regulations. The i20 R5 made its competitive début at the 2016 Tour de Corse, where it was driven by Kevin Abbring and Sebastian Marshall. The car currently competes in the World Rally Championship-2 and the European Rally Championship where it is entered by Hyundai's factory team and various privateers.
