National Lacrosse League
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The NLL currently has fifteen teams: ten in the United States and five in Canada. The NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the NHL and NBA. Unlike other box lacrosse leagues which play in the summer, the NLL plays its games in the winter and spring, from December to June. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the National Lacrosse League Cup. The NLL has averaged between 8,900 and 10,700 spectators per game each year since 2004. Mark Matthews (lacrosse)
Mark Matthews (born January 27, 1990) is a professional lacrosse player for the Saskatchewan Rush in the National Lacrosse League. Canadian Lacrosse Association career Matthews played for the OLA Jr A Whitby Warriors for three years, winning a Minto Cup in 2011. In 2010 he played for the Coquitlam Adanacs, where he won his first Minto Cup. Matthews currently plays for the Peterborough Lakers in the Major Series Lacrosse league. College career Matthews played for the University of Denver for four years. Matthews made the USILA All-American team his junior and senior seasons. With Matthews leading the team in scoring, the Denver Pioneers surprised the lacrosse world by reaching the 2011 NCAA lacrosse semi-finals. The National Lacrosse League entry draft is an annual event where the general managers of National Lacrosse League teams choose eligible players for their rosters from US college programs and Canada's junior lacrosse system. Jeremy Thompson (lacrosse)
Jeremy Thompson (born January 3, 1987 (age 36)) is an Iroquois professional lacrosse player for the Georgia Swarm of the National Lacrosse League, and the Atlas of Premier Lacrosse League. He was a two time Junior College Lacrosse National Champion and was 2nd team All-American at Syracuse University. Jeremy is also a member of the Iroquois men's national lacrosse team with his brothers. Jeff Cornwall (born May 29, 1991 in Coquitlam, British Columbia) is a lacrosse player for the Calgary Roughnecks in the National Lacrosse League. Cornwall was drafted in the second round (15th overall) of the 2011 NLL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Bandits. His brother Travis plays for the Panther City Lacrosse Club. After playing five games for the Buffalo Bandits in his rookie year, Cornwall was traded to the Edmonton Rush for two second round draft picks in the 2012 Entry Draft (Jordan Critch and Carter Bender). Jeff Shattler
Jeff Shattler (born December 26, 1984) is an Iroquois professional box lacrosse player who currently plays with the Saskatchewan Rush of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He has Ojibwe and Inuit roots and has competed internationally with the Iroquois Nationals, including with the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship silver medal winning teams in 2011 and 2015. He was the 2011 NLL Most Valuable Player, 2011 NLL Transition Player of the Year, and the 2018 NLL Cup Most Valuable Player. Ben McIntosh (born May 28, 1991, in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada) is a lacrosse player for the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League and Waterdogs Lacrosse Club in the Premier Lacrosse League. Professional career NLL career Ben McIntosh was selected first overall in the 2015 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft by the Edmonton Rush who had received the pick in a trade with the Minnesota Swarm. In his rookie season in the National Lacrosse League McIntosh had a tremendous initial season collecting 37 goals, 49 assist and 86 points in his 18 starts with the Rush.
