2018 SAFF Championship
The 2018 SAFF Championship, also known as the 2018 SAFF Suzuki Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the 12th edition of the SAFF Championship, the biennial international men's association football, football championship of South Asia organized by South Asian Football Federation, SAFF. It was initially scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh in December 2017, but later rescheduled to 4–15 September 2018. Host selection On 2 January 2016, the SAFF executive committee made a decision that Bangladesh would host the 2017 SAFF Championship at a meeting held in Trivandrum, India. Maldives and Bhutan made bids to host the games but the latter withdrew its bid. This was the third SAFF Championship hosted by Bangladesh, after victory in the 2003 South Asian Football Federation Gold Cup, 2003 edition and semi-finalists in 2009 SAFF Championship, 2009. Manvir Singh (footballer, Born 1995)
Manvir Singh (; born 6 November 1995) is an Indian professional association football, footballer who plays as a Winger (association football), winger for Indian Super League club Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Mohun Bagan SG and the India national football team, India national team. Early life Manvir was born in Duhre (Duhra) village of Sangrur district of Punjab to his father Kuldip Singh. He has one sibling, a brother named Harkamal Singh. Manvir was inspired by his footballer father to take up football. His father used to play in Punjab for JCT FC and represented Punjab in Santosh Trophy, but could not fulfill his dream of playing for the national team after he lost his arm in an accident and became wheelchair bound for life. 2009 SAFF Championship
The 2009 SAFF Championship, South Asian Football Federation Championship was hosted by Bangladesh from 4 to 13 December 2009. Bangladesh was awarded to host the tournament after the withdrawal of original hosts India. After India's reluctance to host the tournament, in May 2009, at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Kazi Salahuddin on his return from the AFC Congress informed that although India were still retaining their status as hosts of the championship, Bangladesh and Nepal had turned in fresh bids in anticipation of staging this prestigious eight-nation meet. A decision was taken at the FIFA Congress in Bahamas in the first week of June but no announcement was officially made. 2011 SAFF Championship
The 2011 South Asian Football Federation Championship, sponsored by Karbonn Mobiles and officially named Karbonn SAFF Championship 2011, was the 9th tournament of the SAFF Championship, which held in New Delhi, India. Venue It was originally scheduled to take place in Orissa, India, but was switched to New Delhi by the executive committee of the All India Football Federation on 22 September. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi was the main venue for the tournament. It is also the home stadium for India national football team and hosted the 2010 Commonwealth Games. 2005 South Asian Football Federation Gold Cup
The 2005 SAFF Gold Cup was the sixth edition of SAFF Gold Cup. It was the second time the competition was held in Pakistan. All matches were held at the People's Football Stadium in Karachi. The tournament started on 7 December and ended on 17 December. India won their fourth title after defeating Bangladesh 2–0 in the finals. Both sides contested the finals in the 1999 edition with India coming out victorious with the same result and Bhaichung Bhutia scored in that finals as well. Ahmed Thariq, Ali Ashfaq and Ibrahim Fazeel of Maldives were the top-scorers of the tournament, all scoring three goals each. The 1999 SAFF Gold Cup (also known as SAFF Coca-Cola Cup due to sponsorship reasons) was held in Goa, India between 22 April 1999 and 1 May 1999.
