2018 RFL League 1
The 2018 RFL League 1 was a professional rugby league, rugby league football competition played in England and Wales and is the third tier of the sport for Rugby Football League (RFL) affiliated clubs. Even before the end of the 2017 season there were news stories that two of the clubs in the league, Gloucestershire All Golds and Oxford Rugby League, Oxford were considering a merger and relocating to Bristol. Uncertainty around this move meant that the structure of League 1 for 2018 was undecided until October 2017 when the merger was confirmed by the RFL who also announced that the new Bristol side would not play in the league in 2018 and the league for 2018 will comprise only 14 clubs. The format of the season was very different from the 2017 season. There was no Rugby League Super 8s, Super 8s and the season was of 26 games with each of the 14 teams playing each other home and away. League 1 (rugby League)
The Rugby Football League's League One (known as the Betfred League One) is the third-highest division of rugby league in British rugby league system, Britain. It is also the lowest level of professional rugby league in Britain. Introduced in 2003 as National League 2 it was the first time British rugby league had a third tier since the old Rugby Football League Championship Third Division, Third and Second Divisions merged in 1998. North Wales Crusaders
The North Wales Crusaders () is a professional rugby league club based in Colwyn Bay, Wales. They are the successors to the former Super League club Crusaders Rugby League. Newcastle Thunder
The Newcastle Thunder is a professional rugby league club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It was founded in 2000 as Gateshead Thunder, after the merger of the original Gateshead Thunder into Hull F.C. in 1999. The Thunder were based in Gateshead until 2014. In 2015, the club relocated and changed its name to Newcastle Thunder. In 2024, the Newcastle Thunder made a return to Gateshead as their playing base. For 2025 they will play their home games at Crow Trees Ground in Swalwell, home of Blaydon RFC. The club currently competes in League 1, the third tier of rugby league in the United Kingdom. The London Skolars are a rugby league club based at the White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, New River Stadium in Wood Green, London Borough of Haringey, Haringey, North London. Founded in 1995, the club operated as a semi-professional team for 2003 and competed in the RFL League One, League 1 until it withdrew from the professional leagues at the end of 2023. Hunslet () is an inner-city area in south Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is southeast of the city centre and has an industrial past. It is situated in the Hunslet and Riverside ward of Leeds City Council and Leeds South parliamentary constituency.
