2018 Norwich City Council Election
The 2018 Norwich City Council election took on 3 May 2018 to elect members of Norwich City Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections. 13 of 39 seats (one-third) were up for election. The Labour Party retained overall control of the council, winning 12 out of 13 seats up for election and 49% of the vote, their best result in over 20 years. The Greens lost every seat they were defending, whilst the Liberal Democrats retained their single seat in Eaton ward. The Conservatives once again failed to elect any councillors, although they did increase their share of the vote by 3 percentage points. As of the 2018 election, the Conservatives have not won a seat on Norwich City Council for over 10 years. The 2016 Norwich City Council election took place on 5 May 2016 to elect members of Norwich City Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections. The Labour Party increased their majority at the expense of the Green Party, capturing 4 previously Green-held seats; the Greens retained only Thorpe Hamlet ward, by a margin of 31 votes. The Labour Party achieved its best result in the city since 1998, winning 44% of the vote and 11 of 13 seats up for election, with the Greens dropping to their worst percentage result since 2005. UKIP achieved its best-ever result in the city, at 10.5%. 2019 Norwich City Council Election
Elections to Norwich City Council were held on 2 May 2019. Following boundary changes, all 39 seats were put up for election, with three councillors being elected per ward using the block vote system. The election saw the Green Party reclaim five seats from the Labour Party, while the Labour Party retained its majority on the council. Council elections in England were held on Thursday 3 May 2018. Elections were held in all 32 London boroughs, 34 metropolitan boroughs, 67 district and borough councils and 17 unitary authorities. There were also direct elections for the mayoralties of Hackney, Lewisham, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Watford. Council elections for the Norwich City Council were held on 22 May 2014 as part of the 2014 United Kingdom local elections. The elections were moved from earlier on in May to coincide with the East of England 2014 European Parliament election. One third of the council's 39 seats were up for election in 2014, plus an extra seat in University ward, meaning a total of 14 seats in 13 wards. The other 25 seats were not contested in 2014. 2017 Norfolk County Council Election
The 2017 Norfolk County Council election took place on 4 May 2017 as part of the 2017 local elections in the United Kingdom. The Conservative Party won control of the council from No Overall Control. All three major parties made gains at the expense of the UK Independence Party and the Green Party of England and Wales, both of which lost all their seats. The Conservatives benefited the most, making a net gain of 15 seats from UKIP and the Liberal Democrats, while Labour bucked its national trend of poor results and made a net gain of 3 seats. Norwich South
Norwich South is a constituency in Norfolk represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, since 2015 by Clive Lewis, of the Labour Party. History The constituency was created by the Representation of the People Act 1948 for the 1950 general election, when the two-seat Norwich constituency was divided into Norwich North and Norwich South. The Labour MP for this seat from 1997 to 2010 was Charles Clarke who served in the cabinet for five years from 2001 to 2006, first as Minister without Portfolio, then as Secretary of State for Education and Skills and latterly as Home Secretary.
