2018 Mini Challenge UK
The 2018 Mini Challenge season was the seventeenth season of the Mini Challenge UK. The season started on 31 March at Oulton Park and ended on 29 September at Rockingham Motor Speedway. The season featured thirteen rounds across the UK. Mini Challenge UK
The Mini Challenge UK is a one-make race series began in 2002 and since 2020 it has run as a support package to the British Touring Car Championship. Throughout the championship's history it established itself as one of the main routes into topline Touring Car racing, and drivers went on to do well in the Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom, British Touring Car Championship, World Touring Car Championship and British GT Championship. Dave Newsham
David Newsham (born 7 July 1967) is a British auto racing driver and businessman. He is the managing director of Norscott Vending. He raced in the British Touring Car Championship from 2011 to 2017, but in 2016, he competed in the British Rallycross Championship, only entering two rounds of the BTCC in place of Kelvin Fletcher. He announced his retirement from the BTCC on 9 January 2018. Matthew Neal (born 20 December 1966) is a British motor racing driver. Neal is a triple BTCC Champion having won the British Touring Car Championship in 2005, 2006 and 2011. Neal is also a record 6 time BTCC Independents Champion having won the title in 1993, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2005 and 2006. He is also a race winner in the European Touring Car Championship. He is 6' 6" (2 m) tall, making him almost entirely unable to race single-seaters. He is also the Group Marketing Director at Rimstock, the alloy wheel manufacturer founded by his father Steve. Ant Whorton-Eales
Anthony Whorton-Eales (born 21 May 1994 in Lichfield) is a British racing driver who will make the move into BriSCA F1 for 2023. He previously won the Mini Challenge UK championship in 2018, Renault Clio Cup UK championship in 2016 and the BriSCA F1 Under 25s Championship in 2016. Racing career Early career Whorton-Eales began his car racing career at the age of 11 on the short ovals in the ORCi Ministox under the number 254 with Incarace Motor Sport in which he raced until his 16th birthday. In 2011 he joined the Renault UK Clio Cup, running four races for Scuderia Vittoria. In 2012 he ran his first full season in the series for Westbourne Motorsport, finishing the season 8th in points. Rob Collard
Robert Collard (born 1 October 1968) is a British auto racing driver from Hampshire, best known for racing in the British Touring Car Championship, winning two races in a West Surrey Racing MG, and claiming the Independent's Cup title in 2003. In 2008, he returned to running the series full-time, driving for the Motorbase Performance team, where he remained for 2009, before returning to West Surrey Racing. Collard also owns his own demolition firm, R Collard Ltd. Career For many years, he raced hot rods, only switching to circuit racing in his late 20s. He raced Formula Ford for 3 years. James 'Jiggy' Gornall (born 8 July 1984 in Nottingham) is a British racing driver, who has competed in the British Touring Car Championship, last for Bristol Street Motors with Excelr8 TradePriceCars.com in 2022. He won the 2019 Mini Challenge UK, and the 2008 British GT Championship. Paul O'Neill (born 31 December 1979) is a British auto racing driver, and the half-brother of English singer Melanie C. Career Early years Born in Widnes, Cheshire, O'Neill was originally attracted to racing after seeing Nigel Mansell win the 1987 British Grand Prix, but did not pursue a career initially, studying for A-Levels but not completing them. Oulton Park
Oulton Park is a hard surfaced track used for motor racing, close to the village of Little Budworth, Cheshire, England. It is about from Winsford, from Chester city centre, from Northwich and from Warrington, with a nearby rail connection along the Mid-Cheshire Line. It occupies much of the area which was previously known as the Oulton Estate. The racing circuit is owned and operated by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation. Excelr8 Motorsport
EXCELR8 Motorsport is a British racing team that is headed by Justina Williams, and is currently competing in both the MINI CHALLENGE and British Touring Car Championship. The team has successfully competed in the MINI CHALLENGE since 2010 racking up multiple championships in both the Cooper and JCW classes, including in the most recent 2020 season when it carried Nathan Harrison to the JCW crown. Joining the BTCC in 2019, the team ran ex- Triple Eight & AmD MG6 GT cars with drivers Rob Smith and Sam Osborne. Cadwell Park
Cadwell Park is a motor racing circuit in Lincolnshire, England, south of Louth, owned and operated by MotorSport Vision, a business associated with former racing driver Jonathan Palmer. Sited on former parkland across a steep-sided valley with dips and crests, the circuit features sharp changes in gradient, including one section called ''The Mountain'' where bikes can become airborne by up to several feet.
