The 2018 Knoxville Challenger was a professional tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It was the fifteenth edition of the tournament which was part of the 2018 ATP Challenger Tour. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a type of surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. Tim Smyczek
Timothy Allen Salazar Smyczek ( ; ; born December 30, 1987) is an American former professional tennis player. He made three quarterfinals on the main tour as well as the semi-finals of Newport in 2018. Additionally he won seven Challenger titles. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 68 in April 2015. Smyczek recorded wins over several notable players in his career including Kei Nishikori, John Isner, Ivo Karlović, Sam Querrey, Robby Ginepri, Gilles Müller, and Benjamin Becker. Hunter Reese (born January 11, 1993) is an American tennis player who specializes in doubles. He has a career-high doubles ranking of No. 73 achieved on 27 June 2022. Bjorn Fratangelo
Bjorn Fratangelo ( ; born July 19, 1993) is an American tennis coach and former professional player. In 2011, he won the boys' singles title at the French Open defeating Dominic Thiem. Fratangelo was only the second American to win the event, following John McEnroe in 1977. Early life Fratangelo began playing tennis at age three. and is named after tennis champion Björn Borg. His father, Mario, is his coach. Fratangelo attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Plum, Pennsylvania, until the 8th grade. Mikael Ymer (born 9 September 1998) is a Swedish professional tennis player. He had a career high Association of Tennis Professionals, ATP singles ranking of world No. 50, achieved on 17 April 2023. Peter Polansky ( ; born June 15, 1988) is a Canadian professional tennis player of Czech origin. He was Canada's top singles player from June 21, 2010, until January 17, 2011, in the Association of Tennis Professionals, ATP rankings.
