2018 Ironman World Championship
The 2018 Ironman World Championship was a long distance triathlon competition held on October 13, 2018, in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii that was won by Patrick Lange of Germany and Daniela Ryf of Switzerland. It was the 42nd edition of the Ironman World Championship, which has been held annually in Hawaii since 1978. The championship was organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). For Ryf it was her fourth consecutive Ironman World Championship win. For Lange it was his second consecutive. They set a new overall course record previously set by them in 2016 and 2017 2017 was designated as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development by the United Nations General Assembly. Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
Kailua-Kona is an Unincorporated area#United States, unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaii County, Hawaii, Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States. It is most commonly referred to simply as Kona (a name it shares with Kona District, Hawaii, the district to which it belongs), but also as Kona Town, and occasionally as Kailua (a name it shares with Kailua, Honolulu County, Hawaii, a community on the windward side of Oahu, Oahu), thus its less frequent use. Andy Potts
Andrew Robert Potts (born December 28, 1976) is a triathlete from the United States. He competed in triathlon at the 2004 Summer Olympics and is the 2007 Ironman 70.3 World Champion. Prior to triathlon, Potts was a swimmer where he won the bronze medal in the men's 400m individual medley at the 1995 Summer Universiade and earned a spot on the USA Swimming national team where he would place fourth at the 1996 Olympic Trials in the 400 IM. Personal Raised in Princeton, New Jersey, Potts graduated from Princeton High School in 1995. While attending school at Michigan, Potts met his future wife, Lisa Simes, who was a member of the University of Michigan gymnastics teams. Linsey Corbin
Linsey Corbin (born February 16, 1981) is an American triathlete who races primarily in non-drafting, long-distance events. Her career includes a third place at the 2011 Ironman 70.3 World Championship and eight Ironman race wins. Career Corbin was born Linsey Pickell to parents Tom and Betty in Greenbrae, California, and grew up in Bend, Oregon, where she attended Mountain View High School. Corbin participated downhill ski racing, cross country and track & field. She attended UC Davis where she ran track but eventually took a break from the sport while attending college. She transferred to the University of Montana to study nutrition and exercise physiology in 2000. In Montana, Corbin began competing in triathlon and in 2003 she entered Missoula's Grizzly Triathlon and won. Mirinda Carfrae (born 26 March 1981) is an Australian professional triathlete and an Ironman Triathlon world champion. Anne Haug (born 20 January 1983, in Bayreuth) is a German professional triathlete, Ironman World Championship Champion 2019.
