2018 India Open
The 2018 India Open, officially the Yonex-Sunrise Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta India Open 2018, was a badminton tournament which took place at Siri Fort Indoor Stadium in India from 30 January to 4 February 2018 and had a total purse of $350,000. Tournament The 2018 India Open was the fourth tournament of the 2018 BWF World Tour and also part of the India Open championships which has been held since 2008. This tournament was organized by the Badminton Association of India and sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation, BWF. The tournament was renamed in a tribute for Akhilesh Das, president of the Badminton Association of India, who died in April 2017. Siri Fort Indoor Stadium
The DDA Siri Fort Sport Complex is a sports stadium in New Delhi, India. It was built for the 1982 Asian Games, next to the Asian Games village by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), which also runs the facility now. Also close by is the Siri Fort Auditorium complex. Akhilesh Das
Akhilesh Das Gupta (31 March 1961 – 12 April 2017) was an educationist, professor, and Indian politician. He was the son of Freedom Fighter Babu Banarasi Das, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He was the president of Badminton Association of India, vice president of Badminton Asia Confederation, a member of the Executive Council of Badminton World Federation, and vice president of Indian Olympic Association. Subhankar Dey (born 6 June 1993) is an Indian badminton player. Born in Kolkata, he currently trains in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, at his own badminton academy named Subhankar Dey Badminton Academy. Iskandar Zulkarnain bin Zainuddin (born 24 May 1991) is a Malaysian badminton player and coach.
