RTÉ2
RTÉ2 (formerly branded as RTÉ 2 from 1978–88, Network 2 from 1988–97, N2 from 1997–2004 and RTÉ Two from 2004–14) is an Irish free-to-air television channel operated by public service broadcaster RTÉ. It was launched on 2 November 1978 as the Republic of Ireland's second television channel, at which point the pre-existing channel was renamed RTÉ 1 (currently RTÉ One). The channel airs content aimed at 16-45 year-olds. History In the 1970s, the Irish government considered three options for the introduction of a second television service: the re-transmission of BBC1 Northern Ireland; authorization of an independent commercial service; or charging RTÉ with the establishment of a second national channel. RTÉ Player
RTÉ Player is an on demand video service provided by Irish public media broadcaster RTÉ. The service provides live and recorded RTÉ television programs, and content exclusive to the player as well as content from other international broadcasters. The player is available in two formats: one for the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, and another for international audiences. The service provides news, current affairs, entertainment, sport, local and international dramas, and allows viewers to watch programmes from 7 to 21 days after they are broadcast. ''The Late Late Toy Show'' is an annual, special edition of the Irish chat show ''The Late Late Show (Irish talk show), The Late Late Show''. Airing annually on RTÉ One near the end of November or early December to coincide with the holiday shopping season, the ''Toy Show'' showcases the popular toys of the year, as presented by the host and demonstrated by various children on-stage, along with appearances by celebrity guests. BBC Two Northern Ireland is a Northern Irish free-to-air television channel owned and operated by BBC Northern Ireland as a variation of the BBC Two network. It is broadcast via digital terrestrial transmitters and from the SES Astra 2E satellite (transponder 48) at the 28.2° East orbital position. Nicholas Bernard James Adam McGarry Byrne Jr. (born 9 October 1978) is an Irish pop singer, songwriter and radio and television presenter. ''Dancing with the Stars'' is an Irish reality television series, airing on RTÉ One, that started on 8 January 2017. It is currently hosted by Jennifer Zamparelli and Doireann Garrihy. The show is based on the original UK version, ''Strictly Come Dancing'', and is part of the ''Dancing with the Stars'' franchise. The judging panel currently consists of Arthur Gourounlian, Loraine Barry, Karen Byrne and Brian Redmond. Production In August 2016, it was confirmed that RTÉ One would broadcast an Irish version of ''Dancing with the Stars'', which would replace the successful ''The Voice of Ireland'', which was cancelled in order for the broadcaster to order the new show. Jennifer Zamparelli (née Maguire; born 9 April 1980) is an Irish comedian and television presenter. She is known for her role on the TV show ''Republic of Telly'', where she was a primary writer, and as co-host of the 2FM morning show '' Breakfast Republic'' with Bernard O'Shea and Keith Walsh. The Methodist Central Hall (also known as Central Hall Westminster) is a multi-purpose venue in the City of Westminster, London, serving primarily as a Methodist church and a conference centre. The building also houses an art gallery, a restaurant, and office spaces (used formerly as the headquarters of the Methodist Church of Great Britain until 2000). ''Players of the Faithful'' is a documentary on Offaly's bid to stop Kerry becoming the first team to win five consecutive All-Ireland Senior Football Championships in 1982. Loosehorse were responsible for putting it together; it followed on from their documentary '' Micko'' which debuted earlier that year. It first aired on RTÉ One on Friday 28 December 2018 at 9:30 pm. At that time Dublin had just won their fourth consecutive All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and would be bidding for their fifth in 2019. ''Players of the Faithful'' was repeated on RTÉ One on the night of 1 September 2019, following ''The Sunday Games highlights of the drawn 2019 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final in which Dublin's opponents were Kerry. Virgin Media Sport (formerly TV3 Sport) is a sports production unit at Virgin Media Television in Ireland which produces specialist sports content for its television channels Virgin Media One, Virgin Media Two, and Virgin Media Three. The department launched a sports channel in September 2018.
