During that year, Indonesia held multiple international sporting events, including the 2018 Asian Games and the 2018 Asian Para Games. 2018 Asian Games
The 2018 Asian Games ( or ''Asian Games 2018''), officially known as the 18th Asian Games (), and also known as Jakarta-Palembang 2018 or Indonesia 2018, were a Asia, continental multi-sport event that was held from 18 August to 2 September 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang. For the first time, the Summer Asian Games were co-hosted by two regions; the Indonesian capital of Jakarta (which was hosting the Games for the first time since 1962 Asian Games, 1962), and Palembang, the capital of South Sumatra province. Events were held in and around the two cities, including venues in Bandung Regency, Bandung and the provinces of West Java and Banten. Darmin Nasution (born 21 December 1948) is an Indonesian economist and politician who served as Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs from 2015 to 2019. He was previously Governor of Bank Indonesia, serving the role from 2010 to 2013 during Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's administration. Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi (born 27 November 1962) is an Indonesian diplomat who formerly served as the Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Cabinet of Joko Widodo between 2014 and 2024. Tjahjo Kumolo (1 December 1957 – 1 July 2022) was an Indonesian politician. He served as Minister of Home Affairs in the Working Cabinet (2014–2019), and Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform in the Onward Indonesia Cabinet from 2019 until his death, both under President Joko Widodo.
