Artistic Gymnastics
Artistic gymnastics is a discipline of gymnastics in which athletes perform short routines on different apparatuses. The sport is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG), which designs the Code of Points and regulates all aspects of elite international competition. Within individual countries, gymnastics is regulated by national federations like British Gymnastics and USA Gymnastics. Artistic gymnastics is a popular spectator sport at many competitions, including the Summer Olympic Games. History The gymnastic system was mentioned in writings by ancient authors, including Homer, Aristotle, and Plato. It included many disciplines that later became independent sports, such as swimming, racing, wrestling, boxing, and horse riding. It was also used for military training. Haley De Jong
Haley de Jong (born January 18, 2001) is a Canadian artistic gymnast and the 2018 Pacific Rim Uneven Bars champion. Early life Haley de Jong was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2001. Gymnastics career Junior 2013–2015 De Jong made her elite debut at Elite Canada in 2013 where she placed fourth in the novice division. In 2015 she once again competed at Elite Canada and placed seventh in the all-around in the Junior division. She also placed fifth on balance beam and won silver on floor exercise. In February 2015 she competed at the Canada Games where she placed eighth on the balance beam but won bronze with the team from British Columbia. Cyril Tommasone (born 4 July 1987 in Villeurbanne) is a French artistic gymnast. His strongest apparatus is the pommel horse and parallel bars. He is tall and weighs . Career He started gymnastics at age 7 and trains at the Convention Gymnique de Lyon with Yann Cucherat, under coach, Anatoly Vorontsov. Miguel Rayderley Zapata Santana (born May 26, 1993) is a Spanish male artistic gymnast of Dominican Republic origin, and a member of the national team. Marine Clémence Boyer (, born 22 May 2000) is a French female artistic gymnast. She is the 2018 Mediterranean Games champion, the 2016 European silver medalist and the 2018 European bronze medalist on the balance beam. She is also the 2018 European and 2018 Mediterranean Games silver medalist and 2016 European bronze medalist with the French team. She represented France at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. Louise Vanhille (born 6 November 1998) is a retired French female artistic gymnast. She participated at the 2015 and 2018 World Championships. Nancy Mohamed Ali Taman (born 15 November 1994; Alexandria, Egypt) is an Egyptian artistic gymnast. Taman earned two gold medals in the 2018 Mediterranean Games and the 2019 African Games and won a silver medal in the 2015 African Games. Lara Mori (born 26 July 1998) is an Italian artistic gymnast who represented Italy at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She is the 2018 Mediterranean Games champion in the all-around, on the floor exercise, and with the Italian team. She is the 2019 Summer Universiade silver medalist on the balance beam and bronze medalist with the team. Junior career Mori made her international debut at the 2012 City of Jesolo Trophy and helped the Italian team win the silver medal behind the United States. Marvin Kimble (born October 27, 1995) is an American artistic gymnast. In 2015, Kimble and Jossimar Calvo of Colombia won the gold medal in the men's pommel horse event at the 2015 Pan American Games held in Toronto, Canada. Gymnastics career Kimble competed at the 2015 Winter Cup where he won gold on rings, silver on pommel horse and bronze on parallel bars.
