2018 ITTF World Tour
The 2018 ITTF World Tour was the 23rd season of the International Table Tennis Federation's professional table tennis world tour. For the first time in its history, the tour included mixed doubles competitions in 2018. They featured at six events: the China Open, Japan Open, Korea Open, Australian Open and Austrian Open, as well as at the Grand Finals. This was to promote the mixed doubles category prior to its inclusion on the 2020 Olympics programme. Schedule The tournaments in the 2018 tour were split into two tiers: World Tour Platinum and World Tour. The Platinum events offered higher prize money and more points towards the ITTF World Tour standings, which determined the qualifiers for the ITTF World Tour Grand Finals in December. 2018 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals
The 2018 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals was the final competition of the 2018 ITTF World Tour, the International Table Tennis Federation's professional table tennis world tour. It was the 23rd edition of the competition, and was held from 13–16 December in Incheon, South Korea. The competition featured events in five categories: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Events Qualification Players earned points based on their performances in the singles and doubles tournaments at the 12 events of the 2018 ITTF World Tour. The top 16 men's and women's singles players, and the top eight men's, women's and mixed doubles pairs who satisfied the qualification criteria were invited to compete. China's Ma Long qualified for the men's singles event, but withdrew due to injury. His place was taken by Japan's Yuya Oshima. Hungarian Open (table Tennis)
The Hungarian Open is an annual table tennis tournament held in Hungary by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). It is currently part of the ITTF World Tour. History The Hungarian Open was first included on the ITTF Pro Tour schedule in 2010. It returned to the schedule in 2012 as part of the rebranded ITTF World Tour, and after not appearing in 2013 the tournament made its second return in 2014 as part of the new third-tier Challenge Series. In 2016, the tournament was promoted to the second-tier Major Series, and in August 2016 it was confirmed that the event would keep its place on the schedule as part of the revamped ITTF World Tour in 2017. Queen Elizabeth Stadium
The Queen Elizabeth Stadium is an indoor sport facility on the Morrison Hill in Wan Chai, on the Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong. First opened in 1980, it has a 3,500-seat arena, gymnasia, squash and badminton courts, and a multi-purpose hall. It was built by the Urban Council, and is now managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. It hosted the official 1983 Asian Basketball Championship. ÖVB Arena
ÖVB Arena (originally Stadthalle Bremen, formerly Bremen-Arena and AWD-Dome) is the largest indoor arena in Bremen, Germany. It is used for concerts, sports and trade fairs. History The arena was designed and built by the Austrian architect Roland Rainer in the years 1961 to 1964. It used to be called Stadthalle Bremen until the financial services provider Allgemeiner Wirtschaftsdienst (AWD) bought the naming rights in January 2005. Contrary to what the new name suggests, the AWD-Dome is in fact not a dome. The name "Dome" was probably chosen because an AWD-Arena already exists in Hannover. At the same time €50 million were invested into the venue to modernize and expand it from 3,500 to 14,500 seats. The architect Thomas Klumpp led these renovations. The German Open is an annual table tennis tournament in Germany, run by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). It is currently part of the ITTF World Tour. History The tournament was first held in 1925, and has featured on the ITTF World Tour's schedule in 1999, and then every year since 2001. China's Ma Long holds the record for most men's singles tournament wins, with five, while in the women's singles event, Mária Mednyánszky, Astrid Krebsbach, Trude Pritzi, Agnes Simon and Maria Alexandru all share the record with three wins each. Since the tournament became part of the ITTF World Tour in 1999, Chen Meng is the only player wins the women's singles event more than once.
