2018 French Open (real Tennis)
The 2018 French Open also known as the 2018 Open de France du Jeu de Paume was the 38th edition of the real tennis French Open. The event was held at the Société Sportive du Jeu de Paume & de Racquets in Paris between September 23 and 30, 2018, and was organised by the Comité Français de Courte-Paume, forming part of the qualifying series for the 2022 Real Tennis World Championship. The men's draw was the third grand slam event of the year. The men's singles draw was won by Chris Chapman, his first of three career Open victories. It was also his first appearance in the men's singles final at the French Open, where he defeated Ben Taylor-Matthews, also making his first appearance. The men's doubles draw was won by Taylor-Matthews and John Lumley. It was Lumley's second victory at the French Open and Taylor-Matthews first. Leon Smart (born 23 April 1992) is a professional British real tennis player currently based at the Tennis and Racquet Club in Boston, Massachusetts. Louis Gordon (born 1965) is an English musician notable for his collaboration with John Foxx. He has worked with Foxx on a number of albums since 1995. His solo work has also been released on the Toffeetones record label. Biography John Foxx had met Louis Gordon after watching one of his concerts. The concert was at Berrington Hall, near Shrewsbury and was in aid of Gordon's birthday (in January 1995). Gordon was said to be "blown away" by their meeting. He was later contacted by Foxx, who asked about making a record together. Their first recording was made in Manchester. Gordon began playing the drums as a child, later progressing to bass guitar and guitar. He now predominantly plays keyboards and guitar doing one-man shows with guest appearances by friends. Nick Howell (born 10 September 1986) is a professional real tennis player based at the Aiken Tennis Club in Aiken, South Carolina. Howell currently ranked number 3 in the world in singles and 2 in the world in doubles and won the French Open in 2023. Howell has challenged for the Real Tennis World Championship on two occasions, playing in the First Round Eliminator in 2020 and the Final Eliminator in 2023.
