2018 European Golf Team Championships
The 2018 European Golf Team Championships was a golf tournament played in August 2018 at Gleneagles, Scotland. It was the inaugural event and consisted of three competitions – men's, women's and mixed team format. 16 two-player teams took part in both men's and women's competitions. The event was part of the 2018 European Championships, the inaugural edition of the European Championships, a multi-sport event which took place in Berlin, Germany, and Glasgow, Scotland from 2 to 12 August 2018. Iceland topped the medal table, with a surprise win in the mixed team event the highlight of a campaign that returned two medals. Hosts Great Britain and Sweden both returned two medals, the latter including the gold in the women's team event, while Spain triumphed in the men's team. Auchterarder
Auchterarder (; , meaning Upper Highland) is a town north of the Ochil Hills in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, and home to the Gleneagles Hotel. The High Street of Auchterarder gave the town its popular name of "The Lang Toun" or Long Town. The modern town is a shopping destination with a variety of independent shops and cafes. Lee Slattery
Lee Andrew Slattery (born 3 August 1978) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He has won twice on the tour, the 2011 Bankia Madrid Masters and the 2015 M2M Russian Open. Professional career Slattery turned professional in 1998 and spent his early career playing in minor tournaments on mini-tours in the United Kingdom. He won the Tour Championship on the PGA EuroPro Tour in 2001. At the end of 2000 he moved to South Africa to play on the Sunshine Tour during the northern hemisphere winter. He was stuck down by glandular fever in 2002, which forced him to take an extended break from the game. Santiago Tarrío
} Santiago Tarrío Ben (born 21 November 1990) is a Spanish professional golfer who currently plays on the Challenge Tour where has won twice. Amateur career Tarrío started playing golf at the age of 7 and turned professional at the age of 17. Professional career Tarrío did not start competing internationally until 2016. He had played two events in Spain on the 2015 Alps Tour, missing the cut on each occasion. However he finished 4th at the Alps Tour Qualifying School at the end of 2015, to gain a regular place on the tour for 2016. Tarrío was runner-up in the 72-hole Alps Costa del Sol, three strokes behind Tom Shadbolt, and finished the season 26th on the Order of Merit. Kristian Krogh Johannessen
Kristian Krogh Johannessen (born 3 March 1995) is a Norwegian professional golfer who has played on the European Tour and the Challenge Tour. He played in the 2020 Summer Olympics and won the 2022 Italian Challenge Open. Amateur career Johannessen played for the national team and represented Norway at the 2012 Eisenhower Trophy with Anders Engell and Kristoffer Ventura, where they finished sixth. He also played on the winning side in the 2010 Jacques Léglise Trophy, where Continental Europe won. Ricardo Santos (golfer)
Ricardo Santos (born 7 September 1982) is a Portuguese professional golfer who plays on the Challenge Tour. He won the 2012 Madeira Islands Open. Professional career Santos turned professional in 2006. From 2007 to 2011 he played regularly on the Challenge Tour. In 2007, he was given an invite to the Madeira Islands Open on the European Tour, and led after the first round. He began the 2011 season well, making nine of his first ten cuts, including seven top-15 finishes. He then recorded his first Challenge Tour victory at The Princess, which took him to the top of the tour rankings. José-Filipe Lima
José-Filipe Lima (born Philippe Lima; November 26, 1981) is a French-Portuguese professional golfer. He won the 2004 Aa St Omer Open to gain a place on the European Tour. His best seasons were from 2005 to 2007 when he finished in the top-100 on the European Tour Order of Merit. Successful Challenge Tour seasons in 2009, 2013 and 2016 have promoted him back to the European Tour but, on each occasion he has failed to retain his place on the tour. He was runner-up in the 2007 BMW International Open. Early life Lima has Portuguese parents but was born in Versailles, France and grew up mainly in France. His father worked at Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche, which was the host course of the Trophée Lancôme until that tournament ceased in 2003, and was his son's first coach. Liam Johnston
Liam Johnston (born 26 January 1993) is a Scottish professional golfer. He won the Kazakhstan Open and Match Play 9 on the Challenge Tour in 2018. Amateur career Johnston had a successful junior career and finished second on the Scottish Boys Order of Merit in 2010 and 2011. He was runner-up at the 2011 Scottish Boys Match Play and the 2011 Scottish Boys Stroke Play. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga between 2011 and 2015 and graduated with a degree in psychology. Connor Syme
Connor David Syme (born 11 July 1995) is a Scottish professional golfer. He won the 2025 KLM Open on the European Tour. Amateur career Syme won the 2016 Australian Amateur championship. He was also medalist at the 2014 Amateur Championship at Royal Porthcawl and Pyle and Kenfig Golf Club where he shot a bogey-free 68 (−3) in round two to come out on top. He was top points scorer in Scotland's successful defence of the European Team Championship. He also represented Scotland at the Eisenhower Trophy where they led after day one. Charlie Ford (golfer)
Charles Philip Ford (born 1 May 1985) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. Ford attended the University of Tennessee in the United States before turning professional in 2009. He qualified for the second tier Challenge Tour for the 2010 season by reaching the final stage of qualifying school at the end of 2009. He quickly made an impact by winning in his second appearance on the tour, at the Turkish Airlines Challenge, edging out Oscar Florén in a playoff.
