2018 Elite 10 (March)
The 2018 Princess Auto Elite 10 was held from March 15 to 18 at St. James Civic Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was the fifth Grand Slam of Curling event held in the 2017–18 curling season. The tournament was held between ten men's teams. Format Instead of normal curling scoring rules, the Elite 10 uses a match play system in which scoring is based on ends won, rather than rocks scored. An end is won by stealing or scoring two with the hammer, similar to skins curling. Unlike skins, however, there are no carry-overs. In the event of a tie, a draw to the button competition is held to determine the winner. In the standings, wins are worth three points, draw to the button wins are worth two points, and draw to the button losses are worth one point. Derek Samagalski (born September 9, 1984) is a Canadian curler who currently resides in Carberry, Manitoba. Samagalski won a bronze medal at the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier as lead, where he also won the first team all-star award for the position. Timothy March (born April 28, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Scarborough, Ontario. He currently plays lead on Team Glenn Howard. Career Youth March skipped his high school team from Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute to a provincial Schoolboy championship in 2005. Men's March played third on the Annandale Country Club team that were runners up at the 2010 The Dominion Curling Club Championship. The team had won the provincial curling club championship that year. March joined the Mark Kean rink in 2010, playing lead on the team. In 2011, the team played in their first Grand Slam event, the January 2011 Canadian Open. The team finished the event with an 0–5 record. Patrick "Pat" Janssen (born May 12, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Burlington, Ontario. He currently plays second on Team John Epping. Career Youth Janssen skipped the University of Toronto men's curling team at the 2010 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, finishing with a 4–3 record. In 2005 he won the provincial schoolboy championship playing for his high school, Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute. Men's Janssen joined the Mark Kean rink in 2010, playing second on the team. Mat Camm
Mathew Robert "Mat" Camm (born March 29, 1990) is a Canadian curler from Cornwall, Ontario. He currently plays third on Team John Epping. Camm is originally from Rockland, Ontario. Career Juniors In 2007, Camm played second for the Neil Sinclair rink which won the Ontario Bantam boy's championship. The team also won the silver medal at the Canada Winter Games that year. In 2010, Camm lost in the final of the Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships to Jake Walker. When Walker went on to win the Canadian Junior Curling Championships that year, he selected Camm to play as the team's alternate at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships, where the team won bronze medals. John Epping
John Allan Epping (born March 20, 1983) is a Canadian curler from Toronto, Ontario. He currently skips his own team out of the Leaside Curling Club in East York, Toronto. Career Born in Peterborough, Ontario, Epping was a top junior curler, having won the Ontario Junior championship in 2004. At the 2004 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, his team finished with an 8-4 record, just out of the playoffs. He won the 2006 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship with Julie Reddick, Scott Foster and Leigh Armstrong. He won the 2007 provincial mixed as well, but could not defend his national title. After Juniors, Epping played third for Nick Rizzo until switching positions with Rizzo in 2006, and thus skipping the team. Christoffer Sundgren
Kjell Tommy Christoffer Sundgren (born 31 July 1989) is a Swedish curler. He currently plays lead for the Swedish national team, skipped by Niklas Edin. The World Curling Federation's historical records rank Sundgren as one of the most successful curlers of all time, both in the medals that he has received and his lifetime performance in individual championships. Rasmus Bele Åke Wranå (born 15 November 1994) is a Swedish curler from Karlstad. He currently plays second for the Swedish national team, skipped by Niklas Edin. With his teammates Edin, Oskar Eriksson, and Christoffer Sundgren, Wranå became part of the first and only team in history to win four consecutive gold medals at the World Men's Curling Championship (, , , ). In 2017, Wranå and these same teammates also became the first non-Canadian men's curling team to win three Grand Slam tournaments and the Pinty's Cup, with Wranå reaching 18 Grand Slam playoffs overall during his time with Team Edin.
