2018 Donbas General Elections
General elections were held on 11 November 2018 by the Donetsk People's Republic, Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. As a result of a War in Donbas (2014–2022), war that started in April 2014, these internationally unrecognised entities control parts of the Donetsk Oblast, Donetsk and Luhansk Oblast, Luhansk oblasts in eastern Ukraine, which are together called the Donbas, Donbas region. They previously held 2014 Donbass general elections, elections in 2014. Voters were asked to elect the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic and Head of the Luhansk People's Republic as well as the deputies for two parliaments: the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic with 100 seats, and the People's Council of the Luhansk People's Republic with 50 seats. The Donetsk People's Republic (DPR; , ) is Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine, occupied territory in Ukraine that the Russian Federation has claimed to annex and declared as a Republics of Russia, republic of Russia, comprising parts of eastern Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast, with its capital in Donetsk. TASS
The Russian News Agency TASS, or simply TASS, is a Russian state-owned news agency founded in 1904. It is the largest Russian news agency and one of the largest news agencies worldwide. TASS is registered as a Federal State Unitary Enterprise, owned by the government of Russia.
