The 2018 Charlotte Independence season was the club's fourth season of existence, and their fourth in the United Soccer League, the second tier of American soccer. Background The Independence finished the 2017 season with a record of 13–9–10, finished 5th in the Eastern Conference, and 11th overall. In the 2017 USL Playoffs, Charlotte were bested in the first round by the Rochester Rhinos. Charlotte Independence
Charlotte Independence is an American soccer team based in Charlotte, North Carolina that plays in the USL League One, the third tier of the American soccer pyramid. The Independence currently play their home games at American Legion Memorial Stadium in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. Previously, the Independence have played at Ramblewood Soccer Complex and Sportsplex at Matthews. The teams color's are navy, blue, and parchment. Jorge Herrera (born 11 September 1980) is a former Colombian professional footballer. Career Jorge has received many high awards from the Colombian Football Federation and from the South American Football Confederation. Matthews, North Carolina
Matthews is a town in southeastern Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, United States. It is a suburb of Charlotte. The population was 27,198 according to the 2010 Census. History In the early 19th century, the new settlement that would become Matthews was unofficially named Stumptown for the copious amount of tree stumps left from making way for cotton farms. The community's name later changed to Fullwood, named after appointed area postmaster John Miles Fullwood. Steven Paul Miller (born September 12, 1989) is a former American soccer player who previously played for North Carolina FC. Career College and amateur Miller played five years of college soccer at Colgate University between 2007 and 2011, including a redshirted year in 2009. Kevin Bilal Duckett (born January 9, 1989) is an American soccer player. Career College and amateur Duckett played youth soccer in Georgia and played for McIntosh High School where he captained the squad to a state title in his senior season.
