2018 Blekinge Regional Election ...
Blekinge County held a regional council election on 9 September 2018 at the same time as the general and municipal elections. Results There were 57 seats, ten more than in 2014. The Social Democrats remained the largest party but suffered nearly seven points of a deficit from the 2014 results, going from 39.3% to 32.5%. In spite of this the increased numbers of seats meant the party remained at 19 seats. This was still a sizeably lower share. The Sweden Democrats recorded 20.6% and became the second largest party, while the Moderates made gains in spite of a nationwide drop. Christian Democrats (Sweden)
The Christian Democrats ( sv, Kristdemokraterna ; KD) is a Christian-democratic political party in Sweden founded in March 1964. It first entered parliament in 1985, through electoral cooperation with the Centre Party, and in 1991 broke through to win seats by itself. The party leader since 25 April 2015 has been Ebba Busch. She succeeded Göran Hägglund, who had been leader since 2004. The party name was for a long time abbreviated to KDS (standing for , Christian Democratic Unity), until 1996, when the party changed its name to the current ''Christian Democrats'' and its abbreviation to ''KD''. The KD was a minor party in the centre-right Alliance coalition government led by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt between 2006 and 2014 and later a part of the centre-right opposition until it dissolved in January 2019. Sölvesborg Municipality
Sölvesborg Municipality (''Sölvesborgs kommun'') is a municipality in Blekinge County in South Sweden in southern Sweden. It borders to Bromölla Municipality, Olofström Municipality and Karlshamn Municipality. The town Sölvesborg is the seat of the municipality. The present municipality was formed in 1971 when the ''City of Sölvesborg'' was amalgamated with the rural municipalities ''Gammalstorp'' and ''Mjällby''. Politics The Sölvesborg Party was formed ahead of the 2002 election by a group of former Green Party members. Party councillors are Dan Boberg and Bo Sandquist. It borders to Tingsryd Municipality, Emmaboda Municipality, Karlskrona Municipality and Karlshamn Municipality. The town of Ronneby is the seat of the municipality. Olofström Municipality
Olofström Municipality () is the only landlocked municipality in Blekinge County, South Sweden. It borders to Osby Municipality, Kristianstad Municipality, Bromölla Municipality, Sölvesborg Municipality, Karlshamn Municipality, Tingsryd Municipality, and Älmhult Municipality. The town of Olofström is the seat of the municipality. The amalgamation of the former units in this area took place in 1967 when the market town Olofström (itself detached from Jämshög in 1941) was merged with Kyrkhult and Jämshög. Notable person that Olofström counts as theirs is Nobel Prize winning author Harry Martinson (1904-1978; prize in 1974) who was born in Jämshög within the municipality. Karlshamn Municipality
Karlshamn Municipality (''Karlshamns kommun'') is a municipality in Blekinge County in South Sweden in southern Sweden. It borders to Olofström Municipality, Sölvesborg Municipality, Ronneby Municipality and Tingsryd Municipality. The city of Karlshamn is the seat of the municipality. Administrative territory 1863 at the time of first municipal legislation in Sweden, the area was divided into the City of Karlshamn and five rural municipalities. 1881 a further subdivision was made by Asarum into Ringamåla. The administrative reform in 1952 reduced the number of municipalities surrounding the town to Hällaryd (Hällaryds plus Åryds municipalities), Asarum (reunition of Asarum and Ringamåla), Mörrum (municipalities Elleholm plus Mörrum). The Green Party ( sv, Miljöpartiet de gröna, lit=Environmental Party the Greens, commonly referred to in Swedish as Miljöpartiet or MP) is a political party in Sweden based on green politics. . Sparked by the anti- nuclear power movement following the 1980 nuclear power referendum, the party was founded in 1981 out of a discontent with the existing parties' environmental policies. In 1988 general election they won seats in the Swedish Riksdag for the first time, capturing 5.5 percent of the vote, and becoming the first new party to enter parliament in seventy years. The Left Party ( sv, Vänsterpartiet ; V) is a socialist political party in Sweden. On economic issues, the party opposes privatizations and advocates increased public expenditure.
