United Premier Soccer League
The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is an American for-profit soccer league that was founded in Santa Ana in Southern California, with teams in regionalized conferences throughout the United States, and recently Canada and Mexico. The league was founded in 2011 by Santa Ana Winds President Leonel López as a regional league for teams in Greater Los Angeles, but expanded to include 400 teams from 41 states as of the 2022 season. Two seasons are played each year, with regional play culminating in a playoff system that crowns a single national champion each season. The league features internal promotion and relegation with up to three levels in some regions; only clubs in the top tier Premier Division are eligible to compete for the national championship. The league is a National Affiliate member of United States Soccer Federation, and a National League within the larger United States soccer league system. Santa Clarita Storm
FC Santa Clarita (FCSC) is an American soccer team based in Santa Clarita, California, United States. FC Santa Clarita also known as the Santa Clarita Storm make just north of Los Angeles home, as they compete in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). Santa Clarita FC announced they joined the UPSL’s Western Conference November 5, 2014. The team is owned by American businessman Gary Brunner, President and CEO of United Sports International Inc. The team is Santa Clarita’s only sports franchise calling the area home with the encouragement and support of the city. Founded in 2006 as the Lancaster Rattlers, the team played in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), before re-branding in 2011 as the Santa Clarita Storm joining the NPSL then in 2014 moving up to join the UPSL. Real San Jose
Real San Jose is an American soccer team based in San Jose, California, United States. Founded in 2007, the team competes in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). The team plays its home games at PAL Stadium, where they relocated in 2016. The team's colors are red, white, black; and blue, gold, and white. History RSJ was formed in 2007 as a member of the NPSL. In 2013, the NPSL crafted an award in memory of Alexander Arellano. Alex, the middle son of Real San Jose owner Nick Arellano, died in 2012 at the age of 25. The award goes to the NPSL's top coach of the year. Since Real San Jose moved to the UPSL the award is now given to the "Best RSJ Teammate" of the year. 2018 UPSL Season
The 2018 Spring United Premier Soccer League season was the 10th season of the UPSL. In some parts of the country, UPSL is organized into Pro Premier and Championships Divisions with promotion and relegation between the Pro Premier division and the Championship Division. The 2018 Spring UPSL season had 136 clubs participate in the Pro Premier divisions and 28 clubs participate in the Championship divisions. The overall structure of the League by Conference and roughly from west to east is represented in the table below Central Conference The Central Conference is new for this season. Santa Ana Winds FC, also known as Winds FC, is a soccer team founded in Santa Ana, California, and a founding United Premier Soccer League club currently playing at the Lake Forest Sports Park, with occasional matches played at Championship Stadium at the Orange County Great Park. The club takes its name from a Southern California weather condition known as the Santa Ana winds. California United Strikers FC is an American professional soccer club based in Orange County, California. History The club was founded by Bronwyn & Pete Capriotti and Michael Collins, who have had connections to the adult amateur United Premier Soccer League. California United FC intended to join the North American Soccer League (NASL) as an expansion franchise for the 2018 season.
