2017–18 Texas Tech Lady Raiders Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Texas Tech Lady Raiders basketball team represents Texas Tech University in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Lady Raiders were led by fifth year head coach Candi Whitaker until she was replaced by interim head coach Shimmy Gray-Miller on January 1, 2018. They play their homes games at United Supermarkets Arena and are members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 7–23, 1–17 in Big 12 play to finish in last place. They lost in the first round of the Big 12 women's tournament to Iowa State. Previous season They finished the season 14–17, 5–13 in Big 12 play to finish in eighth place. Candace Whitaker
Candace Elizabeth Whitaker (née White; born April 22, 1980) is an American college basketball coach who is currently women's basketball head coach at Missouri Western. Previously, Whitaker was head coach at UMKC and Texas Tech. After playing college basketball at Texas Tech, Whitaker returned to her alma mater to fill the position after former coach Kristy Curry left to coach at Alabama. In April 2019, it was announced that Whitaker was selected as the new head women's basketball coach at Missouri Western State University. The UCLA Bruins women's basketball program was established in 1974. The current coach is Cori Close. The team was a member of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) until joining the NCAA in 1984. Argyle, Texas
Argyle is a town in Denton County, Texas, United States, with a population of 4,403 as of 2020. It is a suburb of Fort Worth. History The first European settlement, consisting of a few families, occurred in the Argyle area in the 1850s. The place was then known as Pilot Knob or Waintown. The settlement gradually acquired a few amenities in the late 1800s: a school in 1875, a Baptist church in 1876, and a post office in 1878. The community was formally founded and renamed Argyle in 1881, after the Texas and Pacific railroad built a track through the area.
