2017–18 NK Maribor Season
The 2017–18 season was the List of NK Maribor seasons, 58th season in the history of NK Maribor, Nogometni klub Maribor. It began on 1 June 2017 and concluded on 31 May 2018, with competitive matches played between July and May. It was the first season since 2007–08 in which Maribor did not win a single trophy during the season as the team lost the 2017–18 Slovenian PrvaLiga, league title to NK Olimpija Ljubljana, Olimpija Ljubljana due to worse head-to-head record after finishing with the same number of points (80) in 36 rounds. Olimpija also eliminated Maribor in the quarter-finals of the 2017–18 Slovenian Football Cup, Slovenian Cup. Darko Milanič
Darko Milanič (born 18 December 1967) is a Slovenian professional Manager (association football), football manager and former Football player, player. As a player, Milanič represented both Yugoslavia national football team, Yugoslavia and Slovenia national football team, Slovenia at international level. He also Captain (association football), captained Slovenia at UEFA Euro 2000. Club career Born in Izola, Milanič began his football career with local side NK Izola. In the 1986–87 season, he joined FK Partizan, Partizan. During his time at Partizan, he won the Yugoslav First League and the Yugoslav Cup twice. After the 1992–93 season, Milanič moved to the Austrian side SK Sturm Graz, Sturm Graz, where he played for eight seasons and won eight trophies, including two Austrian Bundesliga titles, three Austrian Cups and three Austrian Supercups. HŠK Zrinjski Mostar (), colloquially referred to as Zrinjski Mostar or simply Zrinjski, is a Herzegovinian professional Association football, football club, based in Mostar. The club plays in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina and with nine won Premier League championships, Zrinjski is one of the most decorated football clubs in the country. Kenan Pirić
Kenan Pirić (; born 7 July 1994) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Azerbaijan Premier League club Neftçi and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Pirić started his career at Gradina, before joining Gent in 2013. A year later, he signed with Sloboda Tuzla. In 2017, Pirić moved to Zrinjski Mostar. The following year, he was transferred to Maribor, where he stayed for three years. After a short stint with Atromitos in 2021, he joined Göztepe in early 2022. A former youth international for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pirić made his senior international debut in 2018.
