2017–18 Israeli Basketball National League
The 2017–18 Israeli Basketball National League (or the Liga Leumit) is the 18th season of the Israeli Basketball National League. It started on October 15, 2017 with the first round of the regular season and ended on May 22, 2018 with the finals. Hapoel Be'er Sheva have won the championship after defeating Maccabi Kiryat Gat 3–0 in a best of five series. Hapoel Afula B
Hapoel (, ) is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. After the State of Israel was established, the rival sport organizations reached a 1951 agreement that allowed joint sports associations and competitions open for all Israeli residents. Migdal HaEmek
Migdal HaEmek (, lit. ''Tower of the Valley'', also officially spelled Migdal HaEmeq, ) is a city in the Northern District of Israel. In it had a population of . Migdal HaEmek was established in 1953 as a ma'abara for Jews from Arab countries, before becoming a development town. The original site of the ma'abara was west of the current site, at Shimron hill. Romema Arena
The Romema Arena () is a multi-purpose arena in Haifa, Israel. The arena is home to Hapoel Haifa basketball club and to Maccabi Haifa basketball club, a members of both the Hapoel Haifa and Maccabi Haifa sports clubs. The arena was and is a home to various entertainment events, conventions, and major events in other sports. The arena is owned by the municipality of Haifa, and managed by Athos Ltd. - a company also fully owned by the municipality. Safed
Safed (), also known as Tzfat (), is a city in the Northern District (Israel), Northern District of Israel. Located at an elevation of up to , Safed is the highest city in the Galilee and in Israel. Safed has been identified with (), a fortified town in the Upper Galilee mentioned in the writings of the Roman Jewish historian Josephus. The Jerusalem Talmud mentions Safed as one of five elevated spots where fires were lit to announce the Rosh Chodesh, New Moon and festivals during the Second Temple period. Hapoel Galil Elyon (), also known as Hapoel Nofar Energy Galil Elion for sponsorship reasons, is an Israeli basketball club. The team competes in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, the top tier of Israeli basketball, and internationally in the Balkan League. The team represents the northern region of the country – the Upper Galilee, and the Golan Heights.
