2017–18 GFF Elite League
The 2017–18 GFF Elite League was the 17th season of the highest competitive football league in Guyana, and the 3rd season of the Elite League. Topp XX and Monedderlust FC who finished the previous season at the bottom of the table, were replaced by Den Amstel FC, Western Tigers FC (Georgetown), Milerock FC Milerock is a Guyanese football club based in Linden, competing in the Guyana National Football League, the top tier of Guyanese football. GFF Elite League
The Elite League, often referred to as GFF Elite League is the top level of the football system in Guyana. Contested by 10 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation. Top level before GFF Elite League was GFF National Super League. The competition was formed as the Stag Elite League in 2015 following a hiatus for the 2014-15 season. Its inaugural season consisted of 8 of the 11 FIFA licensed teams from Guyana. The league expanded to 10 teams for its second season, but four teams pulled out before the season began. Fruta Conquerors FC is a Guyanese football club in Georgetown. The club competes in the GFF Elite League, the top league of football in Guyana. They were league champions in 2000–01, 2017–18 and 2019. The club is named for their sponsor, the beverage company Fruta. They were an inaugural member of the Elite League in 2015–16. Anthony Abrams
Anthony 'Awo' Joseph Abrams (born 3 October 1979) is a Guyanese footballer who plays as a striker for Fruta Conquerors FC in the GFF Elite League. He previously played for Alpha United, Bakewell Topp XX and Slingerz FC; Caledonia AIA and Joe Public in the TT Pro League, and for Leo Victor in the Hoofdklasse where he finished as top scorer of the 2008–09 season with 22 goals. He is considered one of the best players in the history of Guyana, having amassed 62 caps for the national team. Career Abrams made his debut in the GFF Super League during the 2001–02 season at age 22 playing for Fruta Conquerors. In 2003, he transferred to Bakewell Topp XX where he played until 2005. In 2006, he signed with TT Pro League side Joe Public F.C. of Trinidad and Tobago, due to lack of opportunities however he returned to Guyana to play for Alpha United FC.
