The 2017–18 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season was the 24th season since the founding of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. EHC Red Bull München defended their title to win the third consecutive title. Deutsche Eishockey Liga
The Deutsche Eishockey Liga (for sponsorship reasons called "PENNY Deutsche Eishockey Liga") (; English: ''German Ice Hockey League'') or DEL, is a German professional ice hockey league and the highest division in German ice hockey. Founded in 1994, it was formed as a replacement for the Eishockey-Bundesliga and became the new top-tier league in Germany as a result. Unlike the old Bundesliga, the DEL is not under the administration of the German Ice Hockey Federation. The DEL is regarded as one of Europe's premier ice hockey divisions behind leagues in Sweden, Finland and Switzerland. Three German clubs represent the DEL on the European stage each season in the Champions Hockey League, although no German club has yet won this competition. In the 2016–17 season, the league was the second-best supported ice hockey league in Europe, behind the Swiss National League A, with an average attendance of 6,198 spectators per game. Grizzlys Wolfsburg
Grizzlys Wolfsburg are a professional ice hockey club of the Germany, German professional ice hockey league Deutsche Eishockey Liga. They play their games at Eisarena Wolfsburg, Eisarena in Wolfsburg. History Wolfsburg earned their first promotion to the DEL in 2004. However after one season, they were relegated back to 2nd Bundesliga (ice hockey), 2.Bundesliga due to their arena not meeting league standards. In 2006, Eisarena Wolfsburg opened, allowing the club to return to the DEL, where they have remained since. The 2010–11 Deutsche Eishockey Liga season, 2010–11 season marked the first time the club advanced to the league championship series, but they were swept by Eisbären Berlin. Iserlohn (; Westphalian: ''Iserlaun'') is a city in the Märkischer Kreis district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the largest city by population and area within the district and the Sauerland region. Geography Iserlohn is located at the north end of the Sauerland near the Ruhr river, in West-Central Germany. ISS Dome
The PSD Bank Dome is a multi-use indoor arena in Düsseldorf, Germany, it opened in 2006. The arena has a capacity of 15,151 people and 14,282 people for hockey matches. Events It is used mostly for ice hockey matches, as well as concerts. Its home team is the Düsseldorfer EG. Public transport The ISS Dome is connected to the stations Düsseldorf-Unterrath and Düsseldorf-Rath with a shuttle bus. Both stations have direct transfer to the Rheinbahn tram lines 701, 707 and 715. Furthermore, there are connections to the suburban rail S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr serving Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof, Duisburg, Essen, Dortmund and Cologne.
