2017 U.S. Classic
The 2017 U.S. Classic, known as the 2017 Secret U.S. Classic for sponsorship reasons, was the 34th edition of the U.S. Classic gymnastics tournament. The competition was held on July 29, 2017, at the Sears Centre Arena in the Hoffman Estates suburb of Chicago, Illinois. Sears Centre Arena
The Now Arena (originally known as the Sears Centre, Sears Centre Arena and stylized as NOW Arena) is a multi-purpose arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a northwest suburb from Chicago, near land which formerly contained the Poplar Creek Music Theater. Since 2016, the arena has been home to the Windy City Bulls, the Chicago Bulls' affiliate in the NBA G League. History The venue was a joint venture between Sears Holdings, Ryan Companies, and the Village of Hoffman Estates. The project began in 1998; however, plans were not finalized until 2005. Construction began in July 2005. The venue opened as Sears Centre on October 26, 2006, with performances by Duran Duran and Bob Dylan. In 2011, the Village of Hoffman Estates took over ownership of the arena after Ryan Companies walked away from the arena due to the arena's lack of success. Margzetta Frazier
Margzetta Bryantina Frazier (born February 25, 2000) is an American artistic gymnast. She was a U.S. national team in 2017 and 2018 and was the 2018 Birmingham World Cup silver medalist. She is currently a member of the UCLA Gymnastics team. She is the older sister of Emjae Frazier. Elite gymnastics career Frazier competed at the 2017 U.S. Classic where she competed on the uneven bars; she finished fourth behind Ragan Smith, Alyona Shchennikova, and Trinity Thomas and tied with Marissa Oakley. Later that summer Frazier competed at the 2017 National Championships where she placed fifth in the all-around and on uneven bars, eighth on balance beam, and seventh on floor exercise. Jordan Lucella Elizabeth Chiles (born April 15, 2001) is an American artistic gymnast. She was a member of the gold medal-winning team at the 2024 Summer Olympics, having previously been a member of the silver medal-winning team at the 2020 Summer Olympics. WOGA
The World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA) is a two-facility gymnastics club located in Frisco and Plano. In 1994, WOGA was established by Yevgeny Marchenko, a World Sports acrobatic champion who guided Carly Patterson to her gold medal, and Valeri Liukin, a Soviet Olympic winner from 1988 who later worked as coordinator for the USA Gymnastics women's national team. Edouard Larov, a former coach of Liukin and the USSR and Canadian national teams, also trained gymnasts at the club. Elena Arenas (born August 31, 2001) is an American artistic gymnast. She qualified to Junior International Elite in 2014 and competed during the 2014 and 2015 Elite seasons. She is currently a senior on the Louisiana State University women's gymnastics team. Gymnastics career Arenas trains at Georgia Elite Gymnastics in Watkinsville, Georgia.
