Toppserien
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. History Women's league football was introduced on a county basis in 1977. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). No teams from Northern-Norway (''Nord-Norge'') played, however. The winners of the three groups met each other for a play-off. Regional leagues for women had been played before 1984, and a championship play-off had been done between the winners of Mid-Norway and Eastern-Norway in 1983 ( Trondheims-Ørn beat Setskog 2-1), but this championship was considered unofficial by the Football Association of Norway. Stabæk Fotball Kvinner
Stabæk Fotball Kvinner is Stabæk IF's women's football team, started on 23 October 2008 with a core of players from Asker. Asker had lost its licence to play in the top league after a failure to meet financial targets, and Stabæk's chairman Mimi Berdal arranged for the new team to be formed within Stabæk IF. The team was immediately joined by other players including Solveig Gulbrandsen. Stabæk plays in the Toppserien, the top women's league in Norway. The new team set an attendance record in its first match, with 1,321 spectators watching a 2–0 win over Røa, and these two teams have dominated the Norwegian league and cup competitions since then. Stabæk won the league championship in 2010 and thus qualified for the 2011–12 UEFA Women's Champions League to debut in Europe. Elise Hove Thorsnes (born 14 August 1988) is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a forward for Vålerenga and the Norwegian national team. Club career Thorsnes was born in Leikanger. She made her debut for the former elite team Kaupanger, and stayed there until her debut for Arna-Bjørnar in 2006. Thorsnes made her debut at the same time as Erika Skarbø, Madeleine Giske and Trude Johannessen. Arna-Bjørnar finished in 5th place in 2006. Thorsnes was the top scorer in the Toppserien with 19 goals, and was named Young Player of the Year, and was named to the 2006 Toppserien Team of the Year. Cecilie Pedersen (born 14 September 1990) is a Norwegian footballer that plays as a striker. Club career Pedersen hails from Førde in Sveio. She played for SK Haugar until she moved to Avaldsnes IL ahead of the 2009 season on a three-year contract that reportedly made her one of the highest paid women footballers in the country. On 6 November 2009, she won the Gullballen, the most prestigious Norwegian football prize. Melissa Linn Berman Bjånesøy (born 18 April 1992) is an American-born Norwegian football striker, currently playing for Stabæk in Norway's Toppserien. She previously played for IL Sandviken. Lisa-Marie Karlseng Utland (born 19 September 1992) is a former Norwegian footballer.
