The 2017 Pepsi Tankard, the provincial men's curling championship of New Brunswick was held February 8 to 12 in Saint John, New Brunswick. Saint John, New Brunswick
Saint John is a seaport city of the Atlantic Ocean located on the Bay of Fundy in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. Saint John is the oldest incorporated city in Canada, established by royal charter on May 18, 1785, during the reign of King George III. The port is Canada's third-largest port by tonnage with a cargo base that includes dry and liquid bulk, break bulk, containers, and cruise. The city was the most populous in New Brunswick until the 2016 census, when it was overtaken by Moncton. Ryan Freeze
Ryan Freeze (born May 19, 1995) is a Canadian curler from Saint John, New Brunswick. Career Freeze won the 2014 New Brunswick Junior Curling Championship. He played with Rene Comeau, Daniel Wenzek and Jordon Craft at the 2014 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. They finished the round robin with a 5–1 record and the championship pool with a 7–3 record, qualifying them for the semifinal. They breezed past Alberta to face Manitoba in the gold medal game. The teams were even in percentages however Manitoba had a key steal of four which was ultimately the difference in the game. New Brunswick earned the silver medal. Freeze would win the provincial championship again in 2015 this time with a new set of players Andrew Burgess, Alex MacNeil and Comeau still skipping. Jeremy Mallais (born July 18, 1988) is a Canadian curler from Moncton, New Brunswick. He is currently the alternate on Team Scott Jones. Career Mallais finished second at the 2008 New Brunswick Tankard, losing the final to James Grattan 9–2. He also lost in the final in 2010 playing lead for Terry Odishaw and finished third in 2013 playing third for Jason Vaughan. He won his first Tankard title in 2015 at the 2015 Pepsi Tankard and went on to have a 2–9 record at the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary. He joined Team Scott Jones for the 2019–20 season. They won the Atlantic Superstore Monctonian Challenge and the Steele Cup Cash on the World Curling Tour and played in the 2019 Tour Challenge Tier 2 Grand Slam of Curling event. Peter Case (born April 5, 1954) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. His career is wide-ranging, from rock n' roll and blues, to folk rock and solo acoustic performance. Biography Early career Case was born in Buffalo, New York and lived in nearby Hamburg, New York. He wrote his first song "Stay Away," in 1965, at the age of eleven. A veteran of several rock bands and the local bar scene as a teenager, Case dropped out of high school when he was fifteen (he would later earn a GED), and after several years of traveling arrived in 1973 in San Francisco, where he performed as a street musician. Paul Flemming (born October 8, 1968, in Halifax, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler. He currently skips his own team out of Halifax. Curling career Flemming's junior team was successful yet failed to ever win the Nova Scotia Junior Men's Championship, losing in the finals four times. In 1987, the team of Paul Flemming, Mike Mawhinney, Glen MacLeod, and Chris Oxner represented Nova Scotia at the Canada Winter Games in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The team earned an undefeated record in the round robin, including a victory over Ontario's Wayne Middaugh. In the semi-finals of the playoffs Flemming's team beat Saskatchewan to earn a spot in the gold medal match. James Grattan (curler)
James Grattan, nicknamed "Jimmy the Kid" (born July 28, 1974 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Oromocto, New Brunswick. He currently skips his own team. Career Grattan's best personal result as a skip at the Brier is third place (). In 2002–2004 he played third for Russ Howard. He skipped again in (5–6 in Regina), after defeating Dan Sherrard in the New Brunswick Tankard final, and (2–9 Winnipeg), after defeating Jeremy Mallais in the provincial final. He played third for Howard again in (6–5 Calgary). He moved back to skip the following season and the team won the provincial championship.
