2017 NCHC Tournament
The 2017 NCHC Tournament was the fourth tournament in league history. It was played between March 10 and March 18, 2017. Quarterfinal games were played at home team campus sites, while the final four games were played at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. By winning the tournament, Minnesota-Duluth received the NCHC's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. Format The first round of the postseason tournament features a best-of-three games format. All eight conference teams participate in the tournament. Teams are seeded No. 1 through No. 8 according to their final conference standing, with a tiebreaker system used to seed teams with an identical number of points accumulated. The top four seeded teams each earn home ice and host one of the lower seeded teams. The winners of the first round series advance to the Target Center for the NCHC Frozen Faceoff. The 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began in October 2016 and ended with the 2017 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey tournament's championship game in April 2017. Tanner Jaillet
Tanner Jaillet (born August 18, 1993) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played with Karlskrona HK in the HockeyAllsvenskan (Allsv). He helped Denver win their eighth National Title in 2017 and received the Mike Richter Award as the National Goaltender of the Year the same season. Playing career Junior Jaillet was an unheralded goaltender playing in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, going undrafted in his first year of eligibility despite his team reaching the league championship. Jaillet remained with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons for two more seasons before joining the college ranks. Ryan Larkin (ice Hockey)
Ryan Larkin (July 31, 1943 – February 14, 2007) was a Canadian animator, artist, and sculptor who rose to fame with the psychedelic Oscar-nominated short ''Walking'' (1968) and the acclaimed ''Street Musique'' (1972). He was the subject of the Oscar-winning film ''Ryan''. Hunter Miska
Hunter Miska (born July 7, 1995) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently playing with the Straubing Tigers in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He has formerly played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche. Playing career Amateur Undrafted, Miska played junior hockey in the United States Hockey League and British Columbia Hockey League before embarking on collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota at Duluth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Dominic Toninato
Dominic Toninato (born March 9, 1994) is an American professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Riley Jack Tufte (born April 10, 1998) is an American professional ice hockey player currently playing with the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). Carson Meyer (born August 18, 1997) is an American professional ice hockey right winger for the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Parker Mackay is a Canadian former ice hockey right wing. He was named as the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player for Minnesota Duluth during the program's national championship in 2019. Career Mackay was a key contributor for his junior team, the Spruce Grove Saints, and helped them capture back-to-back AJHL championships. After captaining the team in his final year of junior hockey, Mackay began attending the University of Minnesota Duluth and began his college career as a depth player. As a sophomore, Mackay doubled his scoring production and helped the Bulldogs march all the way to the NCAA championship game. AMSOIL Arena is a multipurpose arena in Duluth, Minnesota, home to the UMD Men's and UMD Women's hockey teams. It opened in 2010, replacing the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Arena on the waterfront near Duluth's landmark Aerial Lift Bridge.
