2017 Minnesota United FC Season
The 2017 Minnesota United FC season was the eighth season of Minnesota United FC's existence and their first season in Major League Soccer, the top-tier of American soccer. United played at TCF Bank Stadium and was coached by Adrian Heath, who still coaches United. Outside of MLS, Minnesota United also participated in the 2017 U.S. Open Cup, as well as various preseason competitions. This was the first year that a first-division American soccer team had played in Minnesota since the Minnesota Strikers in 1984. Between that time, the Minnesota Thunder and the NASL Minnesota United FC played in the second division. The club began play in 2017 as the league's 22nd club, and replaced the North American Soccer League (NASL) franchise of the same name. The club played its home games at TCF Bank Stadium, on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, for its first two seasons in MLS play. Orlando City SC is an American professional soccer club in Orlando, Florida, that competes as a member of the Eastern Conference in Major League Soccer (MLS). Orlando City SC began play in 2015 as the 21st franchise in MLS, succeeding the USL Pro team of the same name. Saprissa
Deportivo Saprissa is a Costa Rican sports club, mostly known for its football team. The club is based in San Juan de Tibás, San José, and play their home games at the Estadio Ricardo Saprissa Aymá. The team's signature colours are purple (burgundy) and white. It is the main team representing the capital, but with the distinction of being massively followed throughout the whole country and overseas. The club was founded in 1935 and has competed in the Costa Rican first division since 1949. The name of the team comes from one of the club's main founders, Ricardo Saprissa. Francisco Calvo
Francisco Javier Calvo Quesada (born 8 July 1992) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Konyaspor and the Costa Rica national team. Early life After starting with Deportivo Saprissa as a youth player from 2005 to 2010, Calvo moved to the United States to study at San Jacinto College after getting a scholarship and played football at university level during that period. The Portland Timbers are an American professional men's soccer club based in Portland, Oregon. The Timbers compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member club of the league's Western Conference. Justin Davis (born May 6, 1988) is an American soccer player. Career College and amateur Davis was born in Commerce, Michigan. He played his college career at the University of New Mexico where he played mainly as a forward, but was noted for his versatility. Davis led the MPSF in scoring while earning first team all-MPSF accolades. He also earned second team all-Far West Region honors. During his college years Davis also played for Des Moines Menace in the USL Premier Development League. Professional Davis was drafted in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by Real Salt Lake, but was not offered a contract by the team.
