2017 Mid–Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament
The 2017 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference baseball tournament began on May 17 and ended on May 20 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, in Salisbury, MD. It was a six team double-elimination tournament. won the tournament and claimed the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. The Wildcats won their sixteenth tournament out of the nineteen events, with Florida A&M winning in 2015, Savannah State in 2013 and North Carolina A&T earning the 2005 title. Format and seeding The top three teams in each division were seeded one through three based on regular season records. The two division winners earned a first round bye, with the second seed from each division playing the third seed from the opposite division in the first round. Jason Beverlin
Jason Robert Beverlin (born November 27, 1973) is an American baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current pitching coach of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. The native of Royal Oak, Michigan played college baseball at Western Carolina as well as in Major League Baseball (MLB) and Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). He played one season in the United States and three seasons in Japan. He also served as the head coach of Bethune–Cookman Wildcats (2012–2017). Playing career Beverlin attended Western Carolina University, and in 1993 he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Beverlin was selected in the fourth round of the 1994 Major League Baseball draft by the Oakland Athletics. The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC ) is a List of NCAA conferences, collegiate athletic conference whose full members are historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the Southeastern United States, Southeastern and the Mid-Atlantic states, Mid-Atlantic United States. 2017 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament
The 2017 NCAA Division I baseball tournament began on June 1, 2017, as part of the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64-team, double-elimination tournament concluded with the 2017 College World Series (CWS) in Omaha, Nebraska. The CWS started on June 17 and ended on June 27. The 64 participating NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 299 teams. Thirty-one teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conferences, and 33 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Teams were divided into sixteen regionals of four teams, which conducted a double-elimination tournament. The Savannah State Tigers and Lady Tigers are the men's and women's intercollegiate athletic teams that play for Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia. The North Carolina A&T Aggies baseball team represents the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in NCAA Division I college baseball. They compete in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Aggies play their home games at War Memorial Stadium, and are currently coached by Ben Hall.
