The 2017 Ladies Open Biel Bienne was a women's tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It was the first edition of the Ladies Open Biel Bienne and part of the International category of the 2017 WTA Tour. WTA International Tournaments
The WTA International tournaments was a category for tennis tournaments of the Women's Tennis Association from the 2009 WTA Tour until 2020, which replaced the previous Tier III and Tier IV categories. As of 2021 these events have been reclassified as WTA 250 tournaments. The winner of a WTA 250 tournament adds 250 points to her WTA ranking. For the 2025 WTA Tour, 2025 season, there were 20 WTA 250, all knock-out tournaments with a prize money for every event at $275,094. Tsvetana Kirilova Pironkova ( ; born 13 September 1987) is a Bulgarians, Bulgarian former tennis player. Considered to be one of the best grass court players of her generation, she has been noted for her "cerebral" skills on the surface, reaching the semifinals at the Wimbledon Championships. Julia Boserup
Julia Boserup (born September 9, 1991) is an American retired tennis player. Boserup was born in Santa Monica, California to two Danish parents and began working with famed coach Robert Lansdorp at the age of 6. She moved to Boca Raton, Florida, at age 13 to train at the USTA's National Training Center. Boserup turned professional in 2008.
