2017 Italian GT Championship
The 2017 Italian GT Championship was the 26th season of the Italian GT Championship, the grand tourer-style sports car racing founded by the Italian automobile club (ACI). The Championship consisted of seven Sprint race events. At each event there were held two races. Italian GT Championship
The Italian GT Championship (''Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo'') is an Italian sports car series founded in 2003 and organized by the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) and the Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana (CSAI). It replaced a previous supercar-based championship which ran from 1992 until 2002 when it was folded due to a lack of entrants. The series borrowed heavily from the international FIA GT Championship in its first few seasons, although additional entries from Ferrari Challenge, Porsche Supercup, and Maserati Trofeo competitors were allowed. Following the 2006 season, the top GT1 class was dropped from the championship, leaving competitors in the GT2, GT3, and GT Cup classes. Daniel Zampieri (born 22 May 1990, in Rome) is an Italian racing driver. Career Formula Renault After a two-year international karting career, Zampieri moved up to Formula Renault with BVM Racing in 2006. Making his debut in Italian Formula Renault Championship, Italian Formula Renault at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Spa–Francorchamps, Zampieri finished 17th and 18th on début. His best finish of the championship came at another Formula One venue, Hockenheimring, Hockenheim, when he finished eleventh in the opening race. Lorenzo Veglia (born 7 October 1996) is an Italian racing driver currently competing in the Italian GT Championship. He made his debut in 2015. Racing career Veglia began his career in 2013 in the European Touring Car Cup, he raced in the Super 1600 division. Finishing 4th in the standings that year. Michele Rugolo (born 31 August 1982 in Montebelluna) is an Italian racing driver. Career Formula Renault After competing in karting championships from 1992 to 1999, Rugolo competed in the Formula Renault 2000 Italy from 2000 to 2002, and then switched to Formula Nissan part-way through 2002. Sports Cars Rugolo competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003, finishing 11th overall in a Durango- Judd. In 2005, he competed in the American Le Mans Series, driving a Dodge Viper GTS-R. The Ferrari 488 (Type F142M) is a mid-engine sports car produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari.
