2017 ITU World Triathlon Series
The 2017 ITU World Triathlon Series was a series of nine World Championship Triathlon events that lead up to a Grand Final held in Rotterdam. The Series was organised under the auspices of the world governing body of triathlon, the International Triathlon Union (ITU). Vincent Luis
Vincent Luis (born 27 June 1989 in Vesoul, France) is a French professional triathlete. Besides his many WTS wins and his participation in the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, he won the ITU World Championship in 2019 and 2020, and the Mixed Relay Team World Championship with the French national team in 2015, 2018 and 2019. He won the Junior World Championship and Junior European Championship in 2008, as well as multiple French national titles over the years. Luis also competes in Super League Triathlon. He was dominant in the early years of the league, winning both the 2018 and 2019 Super League Triathlon Championship. He finished 5th in the 2021 Championship Series. His dominance, and 2020 Tokyo Olympic bid, were the subject of the 2021 docuseries ''Invincible''. Emma Pooley
Emma Jane Pooley (born 3 October 1982) is a British-Swiss athlete in multiple sports. A former professional cyclist who specialised in time trials and hilly races, she later transferred to endurance running, duathlon and triathlon, and was four-times world champion in long-distance duathlon. She competes in long-distance and uphill mountain running and has represented Switzerland at the world trailrunning championships. She won an Olympic silver medal in the time trial in 2008 and was world time trial champion in 2010. She has won six UCI Women's Road World Cup one-day races, as well as several stage races including the ten-day Tour de l'Aude. She is three-times a British time trial champion and in 2010 also won the British road race championships. Zofingen
Zofingen () is a city in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. It is the capital of the district of Zofingen. Zofingen is a walled city and home to an ancient monastic settlement. History In ancient times Zofingen was a settlement of the Celtic Helvetii. In later times the Romans built a manor. The Alemanni settled in the 6th century and formed one of the oldest parishes in Aargau. In the 11th century the House of Frohburg founded a canons monastery. Lionel Sanders
Lionel James Sanders (born February 22, 1988) is a Canadian professional triathlete winner of the 2017 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships. In 2017 and 2021, he also placed second at the Ironman World Championship. In 2014 he placed fourth in the 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championship held in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. Sanders's first professional race was in September 2013 at the Muskoka Ironman 70.3, where he took 1st place over Andreas Raelert. Felicity Sheedy-Ryan
Felicity Sheedy-Ryan (born 12 February 1985 in Perth) is an Australian professional triathlete, Oceania Champion of the year 2008, gold medalist at the 2012 and 2017 Duathlon World Championships, and a member of the Australian World Championship Series Team 2011. Sports career Sheedy-Ryan started her national career as a member of the UWA (University of Western Australia) Triathlon Club and is a member of the WA Institute of Sport. Melanie McQuaid (born May 17, 1973) is a Canadian triathlete. Competing in primarily XTERRA Triathlon, or cross triathlon, she has won three XTERRA World Championships as well as the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championship in 2011 and 2017.
