AfroBasket 2017
FIBA AfroBasket 2017 was the 29th edition of the AfroBasket, a men's basketball continental championship of Africa. The tournament was jointly hosted by Tunisia and Senegal. Angola was proposed by FIBA Africa to host the tournament, an offer declined as the country is holding general elections in the same period. Tunisia won their second title after defeating Nigeria 77–65 in the final, while Senegal caught the third place by beating Morocco 73–62. 2017 FIBA Women's AmeriCup
The 2017 FIBA Women's AmeriCup was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 6 to 13 August 2017. It awarded three spots for FIBA Americas to the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain. Canada won their second straight title by defeating Argentina 67–65. Puerto Rico won their first ever medal after beating Brazil 75–68 in the third place game. 2017 SEABA Championship
The 12th Southeast Asia Basketball Association SEABA Championship, Championship was the qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. It also served as a regional championship involving Southeast Asian basketball teams. It was held from 12 to 18 May 2017 in the Philippines. Originally scheduled to be held from 23 to 30 April 2017, SEABA decided to postpone the tournament to 15 to 21 May 2017 due to conflicting schedule with the ASEAN Basketball League and the Indonesian Basketball League. For the first time, this tournament only allotted one spot for the subzone for the renamed continental championship which was held in Lebanon from 10 to 20 August 2017. 2017 SABA Championship
The 2017 SABA Championship is the 6th SABA Championship, and the qualifying event in the SABA sub-zone, one of the FIBA Asia's subzone for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The games were held from 19 to 23 May in Malé, Maldives. India successfully defended their SABA crown after sweeping the whole tournament. With this win, they qualified for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and the first round of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The tournament followed a single round robin format. This tournaments marked the first time the Maldives hosted an international basketball tournament. Aside from the hosts, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh participated in the tournament. 2017 FIBA Asia Cup Qualification
Qualification for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup were held to determine the participants in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. Lebanon secured qualification by being named as hosts. The other fifteen berths were disputed per FIBA Asia zone, and via the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge. Qualification format The following are eligible to participate: * The three best teams from the subzone of East Asia, the two best teams from the subzone of West Asia and the Winners from the subzones of Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Persian Gulf. * The five best-placed teams from the previous FIBA Asia Challenge would qualify the same number of teams for their respective subzones. * Two wild card teams from FIBA Oceania: and . * The host nation would clinch one of the berths allocated for its subzone. * Including the host nation Lebanon. EuroBasket Women 2017
The 2017 European Women Basketball Championship, commonly called EuroBasket Women 2017, was the 36th edition of the continental tournament in women's basketball, sanctioned by the FIBA Europe. The tournament was awarded to Czech Republic after winning the bid to Serbia. The tournament also serves as a qualification for the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain, with the top five nations qualifying. As hosts Spain finished in the top five, the sixth placed team also qualified. The championship was reverted to a 16 teams championship, after the 20 teams that participated in 2015. Spain defeated France 71–55 in the final to win their third title. In total, 61 556 people visited this event.
