2017 Hopman Cup
The Hopman Cup XXIX (also known as the 2017 Mastercard Hopman Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 29th edition of the Hopman Cup tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. It took place at the Perth Arena in Perth, Western Australia. The defending champions were Australia. Roger Federer, 2001 champion, made his first appearance since 2002, alongside his partner Belinda Bencic. For this edition, the Fast4 rule was implemented in Mixed Doubles matches. This marked the first time that an official tournament applied this rule since its inception in 2015. In the final France defeated the US to win its second title. Richard Gabriel Cyr Gasquet (; born 18 June 1986) is a French professional tennis player. His career-high ATP singles ranking is world No. 7, attained on 9 July 2007. He has won a total of 15 singles titles on the ATP Tour. His best performances in Grand Slam singles tournaments have been three semifinal appearances, two at the Wimbledon Championships (in 2007 and 2015) and once at the US Open (in 2013). Henry Christian Hopman CBE (12 August 1906 – 27 December 1985) was an Australian tennis player and coach. Early life Harry Hopman was born on 12 August 1906 in Glebe, Sydney as the third child of John Henry Hopman, a schoolteacher, and Jennie Siberteen, née Glad. His family then moved to Parramatta. Hopman started playing tennis at the age of 13 and, playing barefoot, won an open singles tournament on a court in the playground of Rosehill Public School where his father was headmaster.
