2017 GFW Super X Cup Tournament
The 2017 GFW Super X Cup Tournament is a professional wrestling single-elimination X Cup Tournament produced and unified with and by both Impact Wrestling's and Global Force Wrestling's professional wrestling promotion's and others. It is the first Super X Cup to be held since 2005, however in 2006 and 2008 TNA held team based World X Cup Tournaments. The tournament features eight wrestlers: Dezmond Xavier, Davey Richards and Andrew Everett representing Global Force Wrestling; with Idris Abraham representing GFW and the Can-Am Wrestling School, A. C. H. representing AAW, Drago representing Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, Sammy Guevara representing Wrestle Circus and Taiji Ishimori representing Pro Wrestling Noah. Destination X (2017) (aka ''Impact!: Destination X'') was a professional wrestling event produced by Global Force Wrestling (GFW) promotion, which took place on August 17, 2017, at the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida. It was the thirteenth event under the Destination X chronology. It was featured as a live special edition of GFW's weekly broadcast of '' Impact!''. Five professional wrestling matches were contested at the event. The main event featured Matt Sydal defeating Lashley, with the winner earning a title shot at any GFW championship of his choice. On the undercard, Sonjay Dutt retained the X Division Championship against Trevor Lee in a ladder match and Sienna retained the Knockouts Championship against Gail Kim. The TNA X Cup Tournament consists of various types of X Division tournaments that feature wrestlers and/or teams from all over the world competing in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) to fight for various trophies or championship matches. After a near decade long hiatus, the tournament returned in 2017 before going on another four-year hiatus. As of 2021, there has been eight X cup tournaments (four super X cups and four team X cups). The first X Cup Tournament of any kind was the 2003 Super X Cup. It featured wrestlers from around the Globe competing in one-on-one matches. Chris Sabin was the winner of the 2003 Super X Cup. In professional wrestling, a pin is a move where a wrestler holds an opponent's shoulders to the mat in an attempt to score a fall. A pinfall is a common victory condition, where the attacker pins an opponent and the referee makes a three count before the opponent gets released from the pin. The TNA X Division Championship is a men's professional wrestling championship created and promoted by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). It debuted on June 19, 2002, at the taping of TNA's second then- weekly pay-per-view (PPV) event. The current champion is Moose, who is in his first reign. The championship is contested in TNA's X Division, which emphasizes fast-paced, acrobatic wrestling, traditionally featuring cruiserweight wrestlers. However, heavyweights including Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, and Abyss have also won the championship at various times in the division's history. There have been 109 reigns among 54 wrestlers.
