2017 European Beach Volleyball Championships
The 2017 European Beach Volleyball Championship was held from August 16 to August 20, 2017 in Jurmala, Latvia. The draw consisted of 32 men's & 32 women's teams, with 100,000 EUR prize money per gender. The European Beach Volleyball Championship (or the Nestea European Championship Final) is a unisex sport competition for national teams in the sport of beach volleyball. The championship is held annually by the CEV (the European volleyball federation). Editions Initially, in 1993, just men competed, but the following year a separate championship was held for women. Majori is the central district of Jūrmala resort town in Latvia famous for its spa hotels, historic Art Nouveau wooden summer houses as well as cultural activities and festivals. Raimonds Vējonis
Raimonds Vējonis (born 15 June 1966) is a Latvian politician who served as the 9th President of Latvia from 2015 to 2019 and the president of the Latvian Basketball Association since 2020. He is a member of the Latvian Green Party, part of the Union of Greens and Farmers. He served as Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development in 2002 and in 2011 and as Minister of the Environment from 2003 to 2011, while the Ministry of Regional Development was a separate department. He became Minister of Defence of Latvia in 2014 and held that office until becoming president in 2015. Since 2020 he is the president of Latvian Basketball Association.
