Parliamentary elections were held in the Czech Republic on 20 and 21 October 2017. Chamber Of Deputies Of The Czech Republic
The Chamber of Deputies, officially the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic (, PS PČR), is the lower house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The chamber has 200 seats and deputies are elected for four-year terms using the party-list proportional representation system with the D'Hondt method and the Imperiali quota, Imperiali and Droop quota, Hagenbach-Bischoff quotas. Since 2002, there are 14constituencies, matching the Czech Regions of the Czech Republic, regions, with district size varying from 8 to 26 representatives. 2013 Czech Parliamentary Election
Early parliamentary elections were held in the Czech Republic on 25 and 26 October 2013, seven months before the constitution of the Czech Republic, constitutional expiry of the elected Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, parliament's four-year legislative term. The government 2010 Czech legislative election, elected in May 2010 led by Prime Minister Petr Nečas was forced to resign on 17 June 2013, after a corruption and bribery scandal. A caretaker government led by Prime Minister Jiří Rusnok was then appointed by the President of the Czech Republic, President, but narrowly lost a vote of confidence on 7 August, leading to its resignation six days later. Velvet Revolution
The Velvet Revolution () or Gentle Revolution () was a non-violent transition of power in what was then Czechoslovakia, occurring from 17 November to 28 November 1989. Popular demonstrations against the one-party government of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia included students and older dissidents. The result was the end of Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, 41 years of one-party rule in Czechoslovakia, and the subsequent dismantling of the command economy and conversion to a parliamentary republic. On 17 November 1989 (International Students' Day), riot police suppressed a Student activism, student demonstration in Prague. Freedom and Direct Democracy (, SPD) is a political party in the Czech Republic. It is led by Tomio Okamura and it holds 20 seats in the Chamber of Deputies. The party has been described as right-wing or far-right on the political spectrum. Opinion polling for the 2017 Czech parliamentary election started immediately after the 2013 parliamentary election. Monthly party ratings are conducted by Sanep, TNS Aisa, STEM and CVVM.
