Caguas Sporting FC is an association football team that plays in Caguas. They currently play in the Liga Puerto Rico. This team is from Caguas, Puerto Rico. History On March 12, 2017 the team announced the inauguration of their new updated playing field for the coming season, "el parque del Sector La Macanea". The field is to be co-hosted with Los Santos FC due to an alliance Caguas Sporting FC to establish a soccer based program from baby soccer to the senior team with a philosophy of play and training designed to develop high level players. League News *On January 31, 2017; At the headquarters of the Recreation and Sports Department, negotiations took place between Puerto Rico's top clubs and the Puerto Rican Football Federation (FPF) to outline the future of men's top football. *On February 22, 2017; The Puerto Rico Soccer League (PRSL) announced they will be celebrating their 3rd Cup of Excellence with 8 teams known to participate. Association football had been growing in popularity in recent years, and this was an attempt to further develop the game on the island. The previous highest league in the country was the Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol de Puerto Rico. It shares Division I status with Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Puerto Rico. Over the past few years football has grown throughout the island and is among the top sports in Puerto Rico, behind baseball, basketball, boxing, and volleyball. Metropolitan FA is a Puerto Rican association football club from the capital of San Juan that currently plays in the Liga Puerto Rico. The club plays its home matches at the Parque Reparto Metropolitano. History Metropolitan FA was founded in 2012 by Argentine Jorge Silvetti. In 2015 the team finished third in the Copa Excelencia which took place that year in lieu of a Puerto Rico Soccer League season. By the 2016 season the club was competing in the resurrected Puerto Rico Soccer League, the top tier of football on the island. After finishing in second place during both halves of the regular season, the team had the most combined points in the league and advanced directly to the final. The club won the league championship in the playoff by defeating Bayamón FC in the final at the Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium.
