2017 BinckBank Tour
The 2017 BinckBank Tour was a road cycling stage race that took place between 7 and 13 August in the Netherlands and Belgium. It was a continuation of the Eneco Tour but was renamed following a change in title sponsor. As such, it was the 13th edition, the first one under the name BinckBank Tour. It was also the 29th event of the 2017 UCI World Tour. It was won by Tom Dumoulin. Teams All UCI WorldTeam were invited as the race is part of the UCI World Tour. The race organisation also gave out wildcards to four UCI Professional Continental teams. Schedule The course for the race was announced in May 2017. 2017 UCI World Tour
The 2017 UCI World Tour was a competition that included thirty-seven road bicycle racing, road cycling events throughout the 2017 in men's road cycling, 2017 men's cycling season. It was the ninth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009. The competition started with the opening stage of the 2017 Tour Down Under, Tour Down Under on 17 January and concluded with the final stage of the 2017 Tour of Guangxi, Tour of Guangxi on 24 October. Slovakia's Peter Sagan was the defending champion. The 2017 edition featured ten new events. Sagan was unable to defend his World Tour title, winning just one race overall at the 2017 Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec, Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec in September, as he finished fourth in the points rankings; he finished one point behind third-placed Tom Dumoulin. Sittard-Geleen (; ) is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. It was formed in 2001 from the former municipalities Sittard, Geleen and Born (Netherlands), Born. Edward Theuns (born 30 April 1991) is a Belgian racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Theuns made his debut for in 2014. He took his first victory in August 2014 in the Grote Prijs Stad Zottegem. He also rode for his national team at the 2014 UCI Road World Championships. In 2015, he began his season with four top-ten finishes at the Étoile de Bessèges, finishing fifth overall and winning the points classification. He took his second career win in March 2015 with victory in the Ronde van Drenthe. In August 2015 it was announced that Theuns would join for the 2016 season. He was named in the start list for the 2016 Tour de France and the 2017 Vuelta a España. In 2018, Theuns signed with , before returning to ride for the following year. Lanaken (; ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. On January 1, 2007, the municipality of Lanaken had a total population of 24,724. Its area is 59.00 km2 which gives a population density of 415 inhabitants per km2. Lanaken is located on the Belgian- Dutch border, bordering Maastricht directly. Ardooie
Ardooie (; ) is a municipality in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Ardooie proper and Koolskamp. In 2006 Ardooie had a total population of 9,147. The local inhabitants are called Ardooienaren. During the First World War Hitler was stationed in Ardooie quartered with a family. He painted some of the buildings and the countryside. Blankenberge (; ; ) is a seaside Municipalities of Belgium, municipality and City status in Belgium, city in the Belgium, Belgian province of West Flanders. Stefan Küng (born 16 November 1993) is a Swiss cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He is also a citizen of Liechtenstein. Career Küng won the individual pursuit at the 2015 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, after beating Jack Bobridge in the final. Küng only took the lead in the final . In the 2015 Tour de Romandie, he grabbed the biggest victory of his career at that point in solo fashion. On a cold rainy day, he was part of the early breakaway and dropped his fellow escapees some before the line, resisting to their return while riding toward victory in Fribourg.
