This is a list of the complete squads for the 2017 Americas Rugby Championship, an annual rugby union tournament contested by Argentina XV, Brazil, Canada, Chile, United States and Uruguay. Argentina XV are the defending champions. Note: Number of caps and players' ages are indicated as of 3 February 2017 – the tournament's opening day. 2017 Americas Rugby Championship
The 2017 Americas Rugby Championship was the second series of the Americas Rugby Championship (sometimes informally called the "Americas Six Nations", a reference to Europe's Six Nations Championship), which is the top elite tournament for the Americas nations. It was contested by Argentina XV (Argentina's secondary national team), Canada, United States, Uruguay, Brazil, and Chile. All matches were full international test matches with caps awarded, except those involving Argentina XV. Jaguares (Super Rugby)
The Jaguares was an Argentine professional rugby union team based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They were founded in 2015 and are the first Argentine team to play in SANZAAR's Super Rugby competition, participating from the 2016 Super Rugby season onwards. They were the runners up during the 2019 Super Rugby season, losing to the Crusaders 19–3 in the Super Rugby Final, played on 6 July 2019. They participated in Super Rugby until the end of the 2020 Super Rugby season, before they departed the competition having not been named in any of the regionalised formats for the 2021 Super Rugby season. With no competition in sight, players moved to different clubs in Europe and the national group disintegrated. It is currently the biggest club in the state, with junior category, children, youth, men and women. The Desterro Rugby Clube is a Brazilian rugby union (union) team from the city of Florianópolis, capital of the southern State of Santa Catarina. It has won the Brazilian Rugby Championship in three occasions: 1996, 2000 and 2005. History Desterro's history began in 1994, when a group of young men got together with the Portuguese Miguel Caçote, who had many years of experience in rugby. The first practices took place at “Joaquina” Beach, as the group didn't have a place to practice, and this beach was the only one in the island at the time with illumination. Carlos Rodolfo Ambrosio was born on 27 December 1961 in Córdoba, Argentina. He is an Argentine rugby union former player where he played as a fly-half and as a center, and is currently the head coach of the Uruguayan national team. Playing career He played for Tala Rugby Club in Córdoba, Argentina, before moving to Italy in 1985. He initially played for CUS Roma Rugby, where he earned a call-up to the Italian national team in 1986.
