2016–17 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
The 2016–17 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was the ninth edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, an annual Twenty20 tournament in India. Since it began in 2006–07, the tournament had involved the Ranji Trophy state teams only but for the 2016–17 edition the BCCI decided to run this event as a zonal competition involving the five Duleep Trophy teams. The state teams were assigned to a new competition called the 2016–17 Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament. This arrangement lasted only one season and the state teams returned in 2017–18. 2016–17 Inter-State Twenty20 Tournament
The 2016–17 Inter-State Twenty20 Tournament was a Twenty20 tournament held in India for one season only. The BCCI decided to convert the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy into a five-zone tournament for the teams which play in the Duleep Trophy. The 28 state teams were transferred to the Inter-State T20 but on a zonal basis only, so there was no national title available. West Zone Cricket Team
The West Zone cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents western India in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. It is a composite team of players from five first-class Indian teams from western India competing in the Ranji Trophy: Baroda, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Mumbai and Saurashtra. West Zone has the best track record of all the zones in the Duleep Trophy, as they have won the Trophy 19 times. This included four consecutive titles from 1961–1962 through to the 1964–65 season, although the third of these were shared with South Zone. Manoj Kumar Tiwary (born 14 November 1985) is an Indian former international cricketer who is now a politician. He was a right-handed batter who bowled occasional leg break. Tiwary represented Bengal in domestic cricket and appeared for multiple Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisees like Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Rising Pune Supergiants across multiple editions of the IPL.
