2016–17 SVB Topklasse
The 2016–17 Telesur Topklasse is the 84th season of top tier Suriname football league and 1st season of the SVB Topklasse, Topklasse, the highest association football, football league competition of Suriname. The season began in November 2016, and ended in June 2017.Surinam 2016/17
RSSSF.com Telesur became official broadcaster and sponsor of the Topklasse before the start of this season.


Changes from 2015–16

League expanded to 12 teams and changed names from Hoofdklasse to Topklasse.
SV Excelsior, Excelsior and SCSV Takdier Boys, Takdier Boys relegated to SVB Eerste Klasse, Eerste Klasse now known as the Hoofdklasse.

SVB Topklasse
The SVB Eerste Divisie is the second highest football championship for clubs run by the Surinaamse Voetbal Bond. The league currently comprises twelve teams and operates a system of promotion and relegation. Seasons run from November to June, with each team playing 30 games in the regular season. The league was previously known as the Hoofdklasse but was rebranded as the Topklasse for the 2016–17 season, before being renamed the Eerste Divisie starting in the 2017–18 season. In 2024, the SVB introduced a new professional competition, the Suriname Major League, with the Eerste Divisie now serving as the nation's top amateur competition. The league has a long history, its first completed season was in 192324 when Suriname was still a Dutch colony. Lelydorp
Lelydorp (Sranan Tongo: ''Kofi Djompo'') is the capital city of Wanica District, located in Suriname’s north. With a population of 18,663 (2012), it is the second largest city in Suriname, after Paramaribo. History Pad van Wanica For centuries the Pad van Wanica (path of Wanica) has been the only road that leads from Paramaribo to the south. How this road came to be is unknown. It is speculated that the original inhabitants established the path. Be that as it may, a road was built there, and on either side of the road parcels were issued away. The oldest part of this road is the northern part of it, which is closest to Paramaribo. N.V. Dash F.C. Inter Wanica, referred to as Inter Wanica, is a football club located in Meerzorg, Suriname. Since the launch of professional football on February 22, 2024, Inter Wanica is competing in the professional Suriname Major League. History The club was founded in 1942 as Nishan 42. They played their first season in the SVB Hoofdklasse in 2015–16, following promotion from the SVB Eerste Klasse. Sport Vereniging Leo Victor, known as SV Leo Victor, is a Surinamese football club which plays in the Eerste Divisie. They play their home games in Paramaribo at the Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion. History Founded on 9 January 1934 as a Roman Catholic sports club, S.V. Leo Victor were founded by the working community of the Leo Victor cigar factory in Paramaribo, Suriname. In 1964, Leo Victor became the first association football club of Suriname to qualify for an International CONCACAF club tournament, qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Leo Victor made four appearances in the tournament. They currently play in the Eerste Divisie, the second division of Surinamese football and are the only Sipaliwinese club to play in the top tier.
