2016–17 Russian Professional Football League
The 2016–17 Professional Football League was the third highest division in Russian football. The Professional Football League is geographically divided into 5 zones. The winners of each zone are automatically promoted into the National Football League. The bottom finishers of each zone lose professional status and are relegated into the Amateur Football League. West Teams and stadia Rules *Format: for the 2016-17 season, the Russian Professional Football League West consists of 14 teams, each team plays the others twice on a home and away basis for a total of 26 games each, over 26 game weeks. *Points scored: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss. *Rules for classification: 1. FC Spartak Kostroma
FC Spartak Kostroma (russian: ФК «Спартак» Кострома) is a Russian association football club from Kostroma, founded in 1959. The highest level it achieved in its history was second-highest Soviet First League, where it played in 1981 and 1982. In the past, the club was called Tekstilshchik Kostroma (1961–1963), Tekmash Kostroma (1964–1966) and Zvolma-Spartak Kostroma (1992). It was dissolved in the summer of 2018 due to lack of financing. Znamya Truda is a Russian football club from Orekhovo-Zuevo, Moscow Oblast. The club is most noted because they are the oldest now-playing club in Russia, founded in 1909. They currently play in the FNL 2. The club's finest hour came in 1962 when they reached the final of the USSR Cup. History The club was founded in the village of Orekhovo which was to join with Zuevo and Nikolskoye to form Orekhovo-Zuyevo in 1917. In the 2017–18 season, Znamya Truda finished last in its group, losing 24 matches out of 26. FC Dynamo-2 Moscow (russian: «Динамо-2» (Москва)) is a Russian football team from Moscow. It is the farm-club for FC Dynamo Moscow. History In 2016, it was revived after the parent club, Dynamo, was relegated from the Russian Football Premier League (which holds its own competition for the Under-21 teams of the Premier League clubs) and licensed to play in the third-tier Russian Professional Football League for the 2016–17 season.
